THE head of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has called for governments across the world to ban e-cigarettes.

E-cigarettes, which some experts consider to be less addictive than tobacco, have been viewed as potential alternatives by some researchers. But speaking at the World Conference on tobacco or Health in Abu Dhabi yesterday Dr Margaret Chan, Director General, WHO, insisted “non-smoking should be the norm”.

Since we aren't smoking, it appears Dr. Chan is actually in favor of e-cigarettes then. No?

From the link in OP, speaking about Margaret Chan (Director General, WHO):

She added: “There are many flavours for e-cigarettes. Although they remove the smell of tobacco, some refills have been found to contain harmful chemicals. E-cigarettes have almost 8,000 different flavours. “Some flavours like fruit and candy could encourage young people to start smoking, which may be dangerous as they contain nicotine.”

What an utter lie.

There are way more than 8000 flavors.

Oh, and as long as anti-smoking disallows flavors within the tobacco industry, I'm sure those kids will give up "blue honey" for that always wonderful tasting Camel unfiltered.

Ban vaping and let the black market open up wide, and strong. Your kids are gonna love it.

They know what they're wanting to do will cause deaths. That's what it's all about, certain groups taking all the money and getting rid of most of the rest. Any organization involved with the burgeoning global government exists for one reason only, and that is deceit. To bad they have all the power and propaganda forces, they might just get away with it.

This is a link I found in the Nothing About Us thread - which I highly recommend BTW. It's an interesting compendium of articles & commentary.

To facilitate the world wide eradication of e-cigs, WHO sponsored a training seminar for journalists as part of the fun & games in Abu Dhabi so they could spread the Gospel According to WHO when they got home. It takes lies and misinformation to a new low level.. I broke the link because the video presentation is that bad.

IMO Maggie Chan just exposed the true motives behind WHO's crusade against vaping: it was never about health, rather imposing their sanctimonious worldview upon all humans.

That and the 'non-smoking should be the norm' comment, tends to validate my view of these types - it's more about 'control' than 'money'. BT certainly wouldn't benefit from 'no more smoking'. BP may, but gov't's would lose money and people would lose freedom of choice.

Kent, what do you think, could this be the reason? Moar profits?

Naah, that's how they sell it. I just found a Govt document saying something on the lines: now that we've banned indoor smoking, your workers are losing a lot of time dressing, going out of the building, chain smoking 2 cigarettes, then coming back to their desk and losing an additional 5 minutes to catch up and restart work. this costs you about $3000 or more per year, so we think you should now coerce them to quit smoking, just make sure they use approved methods. As a reward, we'll lower the health insurance rates that we raised in the first place. {vicious laughter}

Businesses should do (within the law) what brings more profits. Gov'ts on the other hand have other motives - namely - control. Some in gov't will go for more taxes, but the truly ideological want control.

The WHO wouldn't even exist if there weren't a handful of people hoping to someday be at the top of an all-controlling world government. The very concept of individual freedom is their biggest enemy, and any amount of 'truth' or 'reality' is simply an obstacle to be avoided.

Without first having the power of absolute control there can be no extortion or blackmail with which to line one's pockets.
