I have just finished interviewing David Sweanor on electronic cigarettes, Snuss and tobacco harm reduction.

David has worked with numerous companies and organisations, including the International Union Against Cancer, World Health Organization, World Bank and the Pan American Health Organization, on the issue of tobacco harm reduction.

He also has some powerful arguments in favour of alternatives to smoking, stating "If there is anyone who believes cigarettes are no more hazardous than e-cigarettes I’d recommend a remedial course in basic sciences."

Perfectly succinct statement.

If only, in addition to basic science, we could teach people common sense!

Thanks for the link Tropical Bob. David's also a really nice guy, as are many others in the Tobacco Harm Reduction field, doing what they do because they believe in it rather than for profits or money. One can only contrast them with cynical public health groups like Cancer America, who seem to be more interested in squeezing funds out of people hurt by cancer than by actually saving the health of people who are smoking.
