Who knew that e-cigs could be so complicated and sophisticated!?!?

When I first saw folks puffing on electronic cigarettes at work as I walked out to the smoking area it interested me but I was skeptical. I kept watching to see if they'd pick up cigarettes again... Some did, some didn't, and I kept on smoking. Then I ran into a friend that was using one and found out she'd gone months without a smoke. This got my attention.

I started drilling her on some details of the brand she was using and how it worked...

Lord, I had no idea how much there was to learn about these little gadgets. I'm looking around forums and ads online and honestly it can become very confusing!!

Hopefully joining and participating here will help me clear some of the smoke! :)

This is a great first step and yes it is very confusing at first. Slowly you will pick up the lingo and things will start to clear up.
Good luck and congrats. Stopings smoking has never been this easy.

Hi and welcome to ECF Melissa! There are a lot of amazing and helpful people here. When you are ready just ask questions and maybe share what you currently smoke, how much you smoke and what you are looking for in an ecig. There is a ton of knowledge and assistance to be had here! And yes, it really does work, just take a deep breath because it does kind of feel like jumping off the high dive. That said, trust me when I say it is so so much easier!

I started on a plug-n-not-play device. More of a sort of suck and fail.

Then I discovered the whole "other" world out there. Since then, I've been trying to simplify....

it's not going well.

Currently torn between clearos and carto tanks. Mostly, I just use a VV/VW 18650 device, so at least the battery bit is easy and lasts for 4 days.

I think you can make it as simple as you like, but first, you need some knowledge (or help..)

Kanger or eGo batteries with evod or MT3S clearomizers. Some replacement heads in about 2.2 ohm and some juice. You have a great start and a simple one as well. The price is pretty cheap, less than a carton of cigs for start up and I really don't think you will regret the purchase even if you go bigger and better in the future. I vape on my Kanger set up while I work on the more sophisticated one. Not to say that I have gotten very sophisticated yet! I am still really new but have tried a few things and found I am not ready to make wicks/coils and put them on things that take them! I won't give up though. It is all part of the fun! Oh, I forgot to mention my Vision Victory clearo. Holds 5 ml and produces large amounts of vapor. Very simple. Same set up as the Kangers.

Good luck. It's a wonderful world of flavor and vapor out there with no nasty added chemicals or smells.

It is complicated, but it's a lot like fishing. If you want to catch fish, sit by the water with a pole, a hook and line and some bait, and you'll probably catch fish.

If you want to catch a specific kind of fish that fights hard and tastes good, well... you're gonna need some special equipment and you'll need to work on your technique.

It's only complicated when you 1- cant find what your wanting 2- it's not in existence 3- it's sold out 4- it isn't what it says it is 4- it's not working 5- it costs more than you have 6- it's $3.00 and shipping is $5.95 7- your technologically stupid ( moi) 8- yes it's friggen complicated when you have to try everything out there and switch between it all a lot (that's wher I am at) and so I guess yes...it's complex alright. I've always been drawn to a challenge.

So, if your product costs about the same as the shipping, I know the answer! ::waving hand high in the air and bouncing in my seat:: You order more stuff to justify the shipping cost! YAY! Order stuff! More juice! More bcc clearos! More replacement heads! More and bigger and better batteries! More of everything!! Whew. I think I need to sit back and have a vape after all that 'more' ecstasy I experienced.

I received my first e-cig 4 days ago, and in my opinion, it wasn't a complicated procedure in the least.

I simply bought a eGo-T CE4 starter kit, you may want to look into starter kits generally, since it'll provide you all the basic things you need to begin vaping.

I have however seen some hobbyism on this forum that suggests that the whole business of vaping can become as complicated as you want it to be, however personally that's something I look forward to, I never really felt that you could make smoking into a hobby, yet it seems that vaping differs quite a bit on that frontier.

Welcome! Personally, making the switch to vaping was easier than I could have ever imagined. The hard part has been figuring out what equipment works best for me, and decoding all the jargon here. I like the eGo type battery setup. Waiting on some Kanger EVOD tanks in the mail now, I think it'll be easier with the bottom coil, as opposed to keeping wicks and a top coil saturated with fluid.
