Scottbee: "It's not made by Joye. It is made by Hello (well, at least the printed circuit board is)."

And as there are Joye knockoffs there are also Riva knockoffs:

"I'm pretty sure that your "Riva" batteries are different than the ones that I tested (based on the charging LED behavior). What we for sure know now is that a "Riva is not a Riva is not a Riva"."

On a side note, Rivas are true 3.7v devices and with that comes the comment from many that a charge doesn't last as long as an eGo. The eGo is a 3.4v device which makes it produce less wattage from a given atomizer. The 3.7v Riva produces a warmer vape that is more flavorful with some juices and a little harsh with others.

I have both batteries around and use them with the appropriate juices depending on how those juices taste with 3.4v vs 3.7v.

I have 2 different "Riva" batteries, one with 808/901 threads and one with 510 threads.

The one I call a true Riva has 510 threads and has "RIVA" stamped above the button on the outside of the smooth barrel where the atomizer/cartomizer screws in.
My other one with 808/901 threads, which I refer to as a knockoff, does not have any printing on it at all.

Both batteries show 3.94 volts right off the charger, however I cannot measure the voltage under load.

The only thing I don't like about the Riva batteries is the shinny gold ring around where the button is. This band will turn dull after a while distracting from its appearance, at least on mine they have.

Yes the RIVA is a mystery wrapped in an enigma.

Eastmall is a web site run by UniCig. As far as I know UniCig is the true manufacturer, though the parts could be coming from different sources. Eastmall used to have fairly decent prices if you didn’t mind the long shipping time and extra expenses. These days, their prices are sky high.

And yes, a true RIVA will have it’s name stamped right on the switch.

Overall, I’ve had better luck with the RIVA over the EGO. The batteries seem to last longer and the switches seem to hold up better over time. The good news is that the two are pretty much interchangeable. So if you prefer the RIVA battery but like the EGO-T tank, you can just mix and match the two parts and off you go.

When I get in something new such as a clear-o-mizer the first thing I do is screw it onto my RIVA. I consider that my old reliable tester for anything new. If it passes that test then I try it on an EGO or comparable battery as well.

I think this whole "who manufactures Ego, Riva", (insert any brand name you like) debate comes down to the definition of the word manufacture. ie:-

man·u·fac·ture (mny-fkchr)
v. man·u·fac·tured, man·u·fac·tur·ing, man·u·fac·tures
v.tr.
1.
a. To make or process (a raw material) into a finished product, especially by means of a large-scale industrial operation.

Now it is obvious that no ecig supplier does this, they all assemble parts manufatured by other companies to produce their products, Reputable suppliers will have stringent specification and quality control criteria in place that the supplied parts will have to meet to be acceptable to them.

This leaves the marketplace wide open for other (shall we say less scrupulous people) to jump in with items made to less exacting standards offered at lower prices.

Bottom line is the ONLY way to be sure of getting an genuine item is to buy it from the original supplier. ie a joytech ego batt from joytech. even buying from an "approved" distributor may not always guarantee original parts.

So in conclusion if you bought your item or part at a bargain price you`ve very probably not bought an original.

Indeed! And this is why I asked who manufactures the Riva, not for suppliers from whom I could buy the part. After much exchange with the Beautiful Trading Company in China, I am inclined to believe that they are the original manufacturers of the Riva.
