Great question. First of all, I have to say thanks for the Ego type devices because it was with one of these that I discovered vaping and quit smoking. Once I quit, my biggest fear was malfunction while I was traveling. I'm in the mining business and visit some very remote parts of the world. As an engineer, I started to search out for devices that were robust, well made, ergonomic and bullet proof. No thin wires!, no electronic switches, those things fail.
My first good mod was an alpha but that was a 14500 and by the time I found it, LV just wasn't doing it for me. My next good mod was a whole host of Reo's and must admit, they are very well made but bulky and a bit cumbersom for me. I had just by then discovered the wonders of HV so I knew I that was the way I needed to go forward. I hated carto's and dripping was impractical although I could not argue against the flavor of atty's.
Because I like to carry my mods in my front pocket, wedged between the side of the pocket and my cell phone, I discovered that the tube mods worked best for me. That's when I discovered the Provari, a great device, tubular, capable of HV but again, with those darn electronics that I just don't trust when I'm up in Northern Chile at a copper mine or in the Amazon at an Iron mine.
That's was right around the time when I discovered the GG. The first thing that I noticed was that it's a work of art. The second thing was that it's indestructible. The third thing was how adaptable it was to all my batteries. The switch is perfectly positioned and easy to clean and repair although I must say I've never had to repair one. The fourth thing that blew me away was the commitment Imeo had to his product, his customers and the whole vaping community. My first GGTS was an old Aluminum one and when I first got it, I noticed the 510 threads were stripping. My first thought was no sweat, I can fix this. I was going to braze a wall of aluminum on the inside of the thread, chuck it up in a lathe and re-tap, no worries. That's when I emailed Imeo for the first time and asked him what the threads and tolerances were so I could do it to spec. his reply was "torque, my friend, just send Bruce your address and he will send you a new cap immediately, you have a lifetime warranty". The part showed up at my door 7 days later!
That was the point when I thought, I must get to know this product and Imeo better. If I'm going to stay off smokes, I need him and the GG and therefore, need to support him with my business! The next several months were a process of selling off all my mods one by one and using the funds to buy GG product. I can say without blinking that I sold $3-4k in mods and every penny was dedicated to the GG product.
Now, I was still a cartomiser user and the rebuildable concept was just starting. I tried the mesh systems but they were only for LV and I coughed with every puff. I know some people love the Geni systems but it didn't work for me. So, by then, I had managed to score an old Iatty and I can still remember it like it was yesterday. The package came to my office and my secretary dropped the box on my desk. I built my first coil in my office. It looked terrible but it fired up. I filled it and the flavor that came through just amazed me. I remember walking out and telling my secretary that I had to take a long phone call, then I locked myself in my office and vaped myself to the point of nausea!
All my flavors tasked different and all of the sudden, I knew I had found exactly what I was looking for. I felt terrible for all the vapers in the world that tried vaping and quit because they hadn't found the GG.
A few months later, the Ody came out and the Ody, to me is Imeo's single biggest and most important invention and gift to the vaping community. The GGTS, TB, Stealth, they're all nice, beautiful, well made but at the end of the day, they are battery holders. I could duct tape two batteries together with a copper wire coming up the side and deliver voltage to a 510 carto, atty, whatever. Not meaning any disrespect at all towards the GGTS mind you, just stating fact.
The Ody however delivers warm, flavorful, moist vapor like no other device ever has delivered to me. I can honestly say I have stopped searching for vaping devices. I now own 6 GGTS, 6 GGTB, 1 Stealth, 5 Ody's and 2 Penelope's and I'm done. My only other devices are a Provari which I kept in order to measure resistance although I've gotten so handy at making coils I make them by eye. My only other device is an Amboyna Mini Grip made by Brad of Sweetvapes. Brad is a master wood worker and I will never sell that mod. It sits at my place in our conference room (I run a vape friendly company) and that's my "meeting device only"
So, with that, I'm going off to coil another wick!
God Bless and Merry Christmas
