Who Thinks New User Restrictions Is Bad Practice?

I joined this site to try and get more information from vape users. I wanted to research and get some feed back about information that is not proven facts about vaping nicotine. Mainly about pregnancy and vaping. I don't agree with these "newbie" rules and wonder who else thinks this is bad practice?

Members are restricted to posting in the New Members Forum only, can not use Private Messaging, and can not have a signature. Totally understandable. There is different ways to do employe this same security. I don't want to spend time posting in the new user area just to be allowed to post a reply on the one forum I wanted feedback/information on. I didn't see your newbie rules in the Email given or in the disclaimer or otherwise I would not of signed up and wouldn't be writing this right now.

5 to 15 posts:
Members can post in other forums and use Private Messaging. Wouldn't it be 6-15? So what is different about "all forums" and "other forums", does not specify, what type of forums are in the "all" category that are not in the "other forums"?

15 posts and above:
Members can post in all forums, and can now have a signature. Once again what is in the "all forums" that is not in "other forums".

Any feedback and explanation from a moderator would be helpful.

I agree with the restriction. It keeps the spam in one area so it's easier to clean up.

Also, there are a lot of knowledgeable vapers who hang around here. You might be surprised if you'd like to ask a question. If it should be in a different area, the moderator will move it once you get enough posts to respond in a different area of the forum. If we can't help you, that is...

You were able to read the newbie rules prior to signing up. Just ask some questions -- a bunch of knowledgeable folks here.

Caution though -- once this forum gets a hold of you you'll never want to leave.

Spam resistance is the reasoning. And, it works.

Five posts really isn't a lot, so I don't see it as being a problem. It's better than having to wade through spam all day. Spam makes for disorganized and frustrating forums. Just say hello, ask a few questions and before you know it, you'll have 16 posts and it won't matter anymore.

Nope, not at all. In fact I was able to generate well over the minimum required to roam the site without even trying. If someone needs information that badly they can A: register at this site and simply search or B: follow the simple rules and go with it. You'll get the information you need quickly enough.

If you came here to find out about vaping and it's effect on pregnancy, that's something you should talk about with your Gynocoloist/ Obstetionist. Opinions from non professionals is not the the way to go. Maybe you're upset with the basic rules here which really isn't a big deal. Everyone here has gone through it.
Lets hope that you don't find another board that will do such a thing. In my opinion, that's very irresponsible and possibly damage could happen. You don't know us and we don't know you and we have no idea how you'll react to opinions concerning pregnancy. I know I wouldn't want you to do something rash that I or others may say that would effect pregnancy.

If you're referring to the posting restriction, there are about a dozen posts in this thread which I think adequately explain the reason for it.

Seriously, it only took me a day to have more than 15 posts and get a signature. I had all of that before I even had a tracking number for my first Riva kit!

*Sigh* Why do so many new users get cranky about this? Consider it this way; it's either inconveniencing a handful of people for an hour, or thousands of people 24/7. Not to mention the fact that questions in the New Member area usually get answered quicker than they do anywhere else.
