The kick is a regulated device. Meaning it will put out constant power throughout the battery life. Plus you can adjust the wattage.

To use the kick in an 18650 mod, you'd need to use an 18490/18500 because the kick takes place in the top of the tube. Yes, use AW IMR batteries.

It's just a nice way to fine tune your setup.

Personally, for the great majority of my vaping, I prefer regulated vaping. As such, I have only found 1 regulated device, which I like.

There are many mech mods on the market, which hold an excellent design combined with stellar build execution, which I like. The Kick and the fuse type devices afford me to use the mechs in a manner that I prefer.

No problem. I think the best use of one is is in a telescoping mech. That way you can tighten it down. I don't know about other Kicks, but mine is kind of loose fitting and sometimes I have to open the battery compartment/screw, take the battery out and re-adjust the kick.

But it works fantastic! You can't get super high Watts, but I prefer a warm vape and I am satisfied with the warmth it produces.

Nhaler has a different style of Kick. You screw it in to your 510 on your device and screw your atty on top of the device. It's called "The Can"

It's power regulated (You'll have the same preformance on a full or 1/5 full battery) for almost any 18490 or larger single battery device. It is an Evolv product which are great. It can do 6 to 12 Watts.

The Can

I have an custom box mode made by a nice member in the modder's group. It has 2,400mAh batteris (2x 1,200mAh) and an evolv DNA20 chip. It's pretty slick tech and definitely going to be the next high end electronic PVs. Sorry, I'm kind of rambling.

My point is, even with up to 20W if i'd like, I usually vape at 7-9W. So I believe a 12W limit is reasonable.

Goes like this:

A) I think I want an all-mech mod. It's pipe-bomb rugged. ;)
B) Hey! The voltage varies. And I can't adjust it. I'll add a "kick".
C) Hey! The kick is great. Allows me to have regulated wattage. Now I have a VW mod that people will think is an all-mech mod...but isn't. ;) Stealth wattage. Oh, crap...a 10 watt limit! And I have to use shorter batteries. :(
D) (Blows up the kick.) Buys a spinner, or an electronic mod with swappable batteries....

OK, seriously...I like the kick idea because it provides short protection on top of regulated wattage.

I guess what no one has asked yet is, "What are you planning to use on top of your new mod?" A kick works very well with some devices, but "stifles" your vape at others. All dependent on the ohms you plan to vape at. Very low ohms I would highly recommend a short stop fuse or a 2 cent fuse. Normal LR ohms (i.e. 1.5 -2.0) a kick works fine. And yes an 18500 or 18490 AW IMR will work just fine. Good Luck!

What is a mech? I'm assuming it means mechanical... But can anyone expand that description? All mechanical? so no circuit board? I don't get it

That's it - the APV is completely mechanical - no circuit board, no wires. Although there are some semi-mechanical APVs like the Bolt which has wires, too. The mechanicals run on a switch contact mechanism and the output is direct battery power.

For lower wattage vapers, the kick works great - it will protect a bit - and as the battery voltage falls, it will still provide the same vape. It will give you, say, 9 watts, to your device, until the battery is done - and THEN it will protect you from killing your battery by over discharging it.
For those of us that use mechs - and low resistance - it throws the kick out of the loop - we are used to battery drop and know full well that a fresh battery kicks like a mule - and then..well....it's less and less. The kick prevents that - but has a wattage limit.
The kick is great - but those that use it will never understand the wonderful experience of a mech on a low ohm load - 15 watts and up - although I do have a DNA20 mod which is impressive.
