What is a mech? I'm assuming it means mechanical... But can anyone expand that description? All mechanical? so no circuit board? I don't get it
Some people don't like circuitry...they want to vape off the battery. So then they start threads about adding circuitry (the kick). lol. (Just teasing ya OP)
Actually..."they" also claim that:
A) All-mech mods are more "rugged".
B) They can repair them themselves.
C) "Look better" (subjective), Last longer, etc....AKA Hand made, one-off, "works of art".
D) The Super-Low-Resistance (SLR) vaping fad uses them because they draw A LOT of amps from batteries and most circuitry isn't currently designed to allow that many amps (but could be designed to allow it).
I think, personally, that the circuitry is a safety feature and that bypassing it is asking for trouble. If vaping was up to me, I'd (?probably?) take all-mech mods off the market. However, I know that's my personal bias, and that I can't tell others what to do...particularly since it's basically two conductors, a button and a battery+connector. So outlawing it is not practical. Anybody can make a simple all-mech mod. Machinists can make a decent looking one in their garage...and often do.
It should be simple to make an electronic mod with built-in short protection (within reason) even for use with SLR.
The kick is nice because it adds short protection AND cut-off protection so you don't over-drain the battery.
