Who's Gonna Quit?

I got into vaping to continue the exhaling of a smoke like cloud and to continue getting the nicotine without all the other harmful chemicals. I still smoke an occasional cigarette to. I don't enjoy them nearly as much as I used to but that's alright I don't really want to enjoy them. I like all these different flavors of e-juice to so far they've been pretty tasty. I remember when camel was putting out cigs in a tin with like a mandarin orange flavor and such but never could taste much of the flavor due to the burning tobacco and whatever else I was inhaling. Now I can actually enjoy a flavor and tell what it tastes like.
I never planned on quitting, I even went into e-cigs saying to everyone "Maybe I'll get sick of e-cigs after a while and go back to cigs, I'm not trying to quit just want to be a bit healthier" and so far I'm doing just that, minus the going back to cigs part. The only part I don't enjoy with e-cigs is recharging the battery but that's what you get when you go electronic.

I have spent roughly $275 on ecigs and liquid in 47 days, and would have spent $352.50 on cigarettes in those same 47 days. So I've actually saved $77.50 so far. But still need (or should I say want) to buy a PCC for my 510, 2 batteries and 2 attys... just to be safe. I figure a 24mg 30ml bottle of liquid from TV lasted me about a month, so that's only $30 a month on liquid, if I don't go crazy and try different flavors, which was a reason I spent so much so far. Plus I'm e-mailing one company to see if I can get a refund for some flavors that were just not at all what the flavors claimed to be.

I got my 901 in and I used it for the rest of the day, I had like 2 cigarettes left in my pack, later that night I went out to smoke a regular cigarette to see what I thought, and it was GROSS.. but I smoked it anyways... the next day I tried to smoke one again to see if it was better/worse.. it was NASTY.. I couldn't finish it. I haven't smoked one since, I mean it's only been like a week, but I don't see myself going back. I don't plan to stop vaping, as I enjoy it (way too much) but maybe I will cut back to no nic after awhile.. maybe when the kids go off to school... it's definitely a matter of sanity at the moment LOL

I got hooked on cigs because they help me relax. I have wondered for years whether it's the nicotine that I'm addicted to or all the smoke breaks.

Anyhow, I have cut down from 1 pack/day to 4-5days/pack. I started on a carton at the beginning of last month and I still have two packs left from the same carton. Unfortunately, I ordered 4 months worth before they jacked up the tax on cigerattes. I still have a whole box (8-10 cartons, I think) of cigs to smoke. Most people I know don't smoke menthol, so I don't know how I'm going to offload some of the cartons.

Dunno how people can go almost cold turkey so fast. This is probably my last attempt at trying to quit smoking for good. I'm happy with my progress so far.

Love this thread. I rarely sit and read a whole thread from end-to-end. tend to skip through, looking for the interesting parts.

Don't have much to add, that hasn't really been covered...

I bought my first e-cig when I heard you could use them indoors. I had no intentions of quitting... "I LOVE MY LUCKY STRIKE'S!!"

but after upgrading to a 510 (Yeti), I love my new habit! I smoke approx 3 cigarettes a day (during my breaks at work), down from a pack a day (often non-filter). All thanks to this little wonder. Been about a month now (2 weeks since the 510), and I feel better. I definitely don't miss the taste of tar in the morning!

Been nearly a month of vaping for me, and I still have a cigarette once in a while. Think I've had 6 or so all month...Hard to tell because I tend to light the cigarette, then start critiquing the flavor, smoke, and throat hit -- and I've been unimpressed every time, and put out the smoke 1/4-1/2 way through, lol. It's funny how you get used to the e-cig so fast...smoking a "real" cigarette now is kinda like bumming a Marlboro used to be for me when I smoked American Spirits. It's a way to get nicotine, but it doesn't taste good.

I like to pick on my friends now about their "inferior nicotine delivery devices". :p

I don't plan to quit vaping at the moment; I like the social aspect of still being able to take a smoke break with friends. Maybe someday it'll be more of a pain in the .... than it's worth, but for now I'm having fun with it, so why stop?

Im glad someone else said it. I might not have been smoking as long as some others, since new years of 99 but i for one was enjoying a good cigar well before than. For me the nic fit is a side affect however the sheer act of smoking is pleasurable and relaxing.

So im sure like many others i only want to "quit" due to the side affects and do not want to give up smoking all together. Im happy to have the opportunity to quit analogs but still enjoy a good puff. Now i just have to wait for my first digital to arrive......very hard to sit still and be patient arrrrg

I have been smoking for over 20 years, and was smoking about a pack a day. Tried quitting several times, and was always successful for awhile, but always went back. I think the main reason for going back for me was the physical act of smoking. I heard about e-cigs a couple of weeks ago, did my research, and purchased my Yeti... LOVE IT!

After reading alot on this forum, I decided I wasn't going to pressure myself about analogs, just start vaping, have an analog when the urge strikes and see how it goes. Now I know everyone is different, but on the first entire day of using my 510, without even thinking about it, I realized I had only smoked 6 analogs! Now going from a pack down to 6 the first day is amazing to me!

The last couple of days I have also noticed I am not smoking the entire analog because the smell and the taste are so NOT appealing. I know it is just a matter of time before I won't want analogs anymore. Don't know if I will quit the nicotine, but if I do I still intend to vape.

I am so grateful that the e-cig is working for me when nothing else would!

I'm not gonna quit vaping...I may even start vaping more if I get a SD!! I started about a month ago with a 901, then last week got a lovely 510 have been using that constantly but now I want even more at certain times. So maybe I'll get an SD for those special days!!
I haven't had an analog in 13 days because they simiply aren't that good any more. Vaping is so much tastier & smoother:thumbs:
