Why am burning through coils, no matter the brand?

Ok well lets start at the beginning I will build a coil and wick it with organic cotton in the IGO-W and send it to you. It will work on your ITaste albeit a little top heavy. When you get it all you will need is a drip tip and juice. When you get it just drip some juice into the top hole and add drip tip. If you like the results then you and I can talk or you can watch any number of videos on how to re build. IF you do not like I ask that you return the favor and send to someone else so that they can try their hand at re building. If this sounds good shoot me a PM and I will get it out to you.

You is awesome!!!!!!!! :thumb: Now question...will any juice work in it or do I have to buy one especially for dripping??? And if I don't like it...I do have a friend who just might try. As soon as I figure out how to PM, I will lol

And if you press and hold the lower (-) button, first it will show the puff count, then the current output setting. If in VW mode, it will be something like P7.5, if in VV mode, along the lines of U3.8.

You pick which mode, VV or VW. Both work fine, many use VW which is sort of "set and forget" if all your flavors taste best at the same power level. (Not all do, ime) In VW mode, the mods automatically adjusts the voltage for you to get that power level, so different coil resistances don't matter. In VV mode, you may need to adjust the set voltage when you change to a topper with a different value, to get the same vape.

You might consider putting it in VV mode and setting it all the way down, then work up in steps.

David I do use just the VW mode mostly. I really like it alot. I've tried the VV like the VW better, but you are right it does depend on the juice.

I do generally run in VW mode, but with some flavors in mini PTs and Davides, and depending on the coil, I find that the VV3 in VW mode doesn't go low enough to not burn the flavor. In that case, if I don't put that topper on another device, I'll put the VV3 in VV mode, as it seems to be able to go a bit lower.

That is awesome info to know. thanks! I will keep that in mind. The two tanks that I have changed to 2.0 ohms have been great so far. The tanks that i still have the 1.5 in, i will try the VV thanks for the thought!

Got you PM and responded. No special juice needed in fact an RDA is going to handle all juices very well no matter what.

This is one of the coolest things about ECF - folks are always so willing to help, and to pay it forward.

Yes I agree totally! They have been so helpful, because I have no clue what I am doing, but I have learned so much on here! They are all awesome! And hopefully one day I will be too lol
That is the goal! When I first found ECF there was no way in the world I was ever going to re build.. I very quickly learned a lot from here and elsewhere and am very happy I learned. And I am happy I can pay it forward it is very satisfying to help other vapers.

Like any hobbyist, the vape-a-hobbyist also likes helping people learn the hobby.

Unlike other hobbies, vaping may actually be life-saving, so helping people get over the learning curve of any part of vape-land is especially rewarding. We all had to learn the ins and outs of our hardware, juice blends, and what flavors we like.

And don't feel you have to "learn" every part of the hobby. Remember your primary goal was to become a non-smoker, and as long as you have the hardware and skills to do that, everything else is the hobby part, to be picked up at your own pace. :vapor:

Ok Granny your IGO is on its way... I was going to PPM you a series of picks but thought about it and I thought maybe other people would like to see the nuts and bolts in case they are interested. A caveat I am not a photographer nor am I very good at doing reviews... There are hundreds of good coil rebuilding reviews on You Tube and I can send or post links to the best that I have found that helped me learn. What I will present in the next couple of threads is a pictorial breakdown and build of the IGO so you will know what to look for. I apologize I had to change mods mid pics due to the first not reading the atty properly.
NpBOotBl.jpg

Ok here is a close up of the RDA before tear down as it should look with drip tip (any will do)
U4YEH9Fl.jpg

and another for reference you see the air hole which should be lined up with coil inside (more on that later)
ZO4NFHYl.jpg

Top cap pulled off next to base if I lifted top cap and installed you can see the air hole would be lined up with coil
Q20qqaql.jpg

Cap out of the way this is the base built with my wick saturated in it. This is what it should look like when you add your juice to it. the nice thing about this RDA is the Air hole is high up so it does not leak as badly as some of my other RDA's
ZvynHEOl.jpg

Coil and wick removed washed in alcohol cleaned up this is a bare deck as it would arrive if you bought it new.
MiPIYBdl.jpg

Coil wrapped 7 wraps 28g kanthal not tightened up or torched yet. but you could instal this coil as is and probably get a decent vape out of it.
X3ErC28l.jpg

Coil installed after compressing and torching into a microcoil (all coils touching makes the coil more stable and eliminates hot spots)
S6UFn93l.jpg

Different Angle also have pulsed and tightened up coil making sure it heats up from middle out. No hot Spots coming in at a solid 1.4ohms
1QN7Vmcl.jpg

i2dmmhIl.jpg

Pulsing to check looking clean and good
aSA19WSl.jpg

Very Accurate reading on DNA 30 1.4 ohms every time I fire
ffzVxVSl.jpg

Muji Japanese organic cotton wick threaded into coil
PwyhUb0l.jpg

Cotton Tucked in once you add juice it will all settle down some and look more in control (LOL)
3ZIYzeal.jpg

Cap next to base see the air hole on side of cap is lined so when you put cap on hole will be right next to coil
F2k95UOl.jpg

Cap on Base ready to go as soon as you add juice and drip tip
cGR25hyl.jpg

From the top this is where you will drip your juice you can see the cotton in there just keep it moist
Again I am not claiming to be a reviewer or someone who builds amazing coils but this is a very basic step by step.
