hell even if they were GUARANTEED to last a year - that would work - u give me an iron clad guarantee and i'd pay up to $5-10 EACH buying anywhere between 1 and 5 (should suit most ppl) every year wouldn't be so bad. but the guarantee would have to include all manners of atty death other than ripping it apart. basically it'd have to b guarantee that if it pops or becomes unusable at specified voltage then it gets replaced.

IMHO a couple of reasons...

* Predominantly, because america has sold its manufacturing soul. Economics drove manufacturing offshore and now we're paying the price for that.

* Secondarily, a US based company endeavoring to bring ecigs to market probably would have had a much harder time given our legal system and the "antis" political clout. So the ecig innovation started elsewhere because the climate here wouldn't have allowed it to get off the ground. That advantage persists.

I hope things change on both fronts, but I'm not particularly hopeful. Lawyers and politicians (there are a lot of politicians with lawyerly backgrounds) can kiss my .... Do something useful, like make something or invent something for Christ's sake.

I agree. I'd pay more also. I'm really honestly surprised that a US company hasn't done this already, but like the other poster said, it's the cost and legality. That really bites. I'd happily pay 5 times as much if they were made here, good quality, and lasted 6 months or more, and most importantly, a few people had a job because of it.

Heck, I found out a couple years ago that Bob Nardelli, while running Chrysler, was pulling all the US molds and having parts made in China. I owned three of my favorite car, the 300M, all different years. I'd like to get another, but where would any replacement parts come from now? There's no telling, but unless they were originals, and picked from a junkyard, would likely be inferior metals from overseas. Sucks. I work for Home Depot, and I'm curious to see what he does to Chrysler after we kicked him out of HD, with a 200 million-dollar severance check. Actually a little more than that.

Also, I wonder how many people in China actually use ecigs...

ARE YOU JOKING? OMG, I had no idea...what possible reasoning could there be behind this? And how much money could they make for their own economy if they sold them right there? Are cigarettes big money in China?
