Why are cartomizers flat on the top?

95% of everything I vape is with different clearomizers that I use. They have these tips on the top that fit my mouth nicely, and I like vaping with these clearomizers.

I keep a few cartomizers around for plastic cracking e-juices, and my question is - Why don't cartomizers also have that tip on the top? Why are they all flat?

I far prefer clearomizers over cartomizers for my set up, but for those times when I do use a cartomizer, it sure would be nice if they came with the same tip on top that clearomizers use. Cartomizers should at least let people put their own tip on them, but that's not possible either, at least on the ones that I've seen.

Ive never used carts but know if they are 510 most any driptip should work on them.

I'm using an 808 set up, but I've been to retailers online who sell drip tips, and some of them say that theirs are compatible with both 510 and 808, but I found that odd, since I thought that 808 and 510 were two different sizes.

The tips on my clearomizers have to be screwed on. There are no grooves or slots on the cartomizers I have, so whatever tip that would work would have to just be inserted, without screwing them in.

Many drip tips fit cartos as well.

When they were invented and popular none of those other things existed and they were designed to mimic a cigarette ...., since they were on cigalikes.

Mimicing a cig .... makes sense, as to why they first made them that way.

I'll search for a driptip that might fit the cartos that I have. Thanks!

The push in style drip tips have an o ring in a slot in the end that goes into the top of a carto.
The o ring exerts pressure against the inside ' wall ' of a carto holding it in place.

Not really, the difference is in the threading of the battery.

Now go back a few years to 801/901 and other old threads and sizes do change

Thanks for the info!

I've seen a few fancy 510 driptips that I liked, and now I guess that I will be able to pimp out my little 808 set up by ordering one of those fancy looking drip tips, like the ones in metal with skulls or snakes on them.:)

Now while they fit, it should be noted not every single drip tip is made to exact tolerance. Some may be tight or loose, just something to remember if some don't fit

That's good to know. Thanks.

They're pretty cheap, so I'll just pick up a few of them, different kinds, in case there's an issue with one.

The white parts, of the cartomizer, are removable. Just get a toothpick or something similar to pull it out, then pop the driptip in. Some types seem to use some sort of adhesive, just give em a bit of a wiggle and pull and it should work its way out. Sometimes there's a 2nd rubbery part under the main one, that comes out too. ENJOY! :vapor:

I've filled the cartomizers that I have with juice a few times already, so I've popped off the white plastic part before. I find that on the cartomizers that I have, the white plastic top comes off pretty easy, and I just use my finger. I didn't notice any second rubbery part on the ones that I'm using.

I'm happy to hear that I can put a drip tip of my choice onto my cartomizers, because I've just been using them flat tipped for weeks now, and I didn't like it.
