been using the aw/imr 18650's , 1600mah forever and swear by them. they seem to be a fantastic hi-drain battery. need to purchase a few new ones and was thinking on trying some newer types that maybe better. I know the 1600 mah that i use are 24 amps and was wondering if there is a hands down better nipple top battery with at least the same amp limit or maybe even higher around? i have a few mnke's but they just don't fit and work as well as the nipple tops so the flat tops are out. thanks guys

As for why all the high current batteries is easy. It's all about appealing to the market. High end batteries are primarily used in packs and that means flat tops since button tops don't work very well in that application.

Unfortunately, this means button tops will be extremely hard to find if you need high amp output power.

What do you mean by flat tops don't fit? If that truly is the case you may need to invest in more AW's.

well in my future dna mod, it only can use nipple tops. as for my mechs, it seems like my 2 origen v-2's work better with nipple tops. maybe its the throw or something. i have tried to adjust it but it just doesn't fire as consistently as a nipple top because of the extra distance. as for my 18650 dingo, it isn't picky, as it works fine on either. and for my provari, probably should stick to the aw/imr's because that's what they really recommend. so at least 3 of my mods work better with nipples.

really, you think most are flat tops because they pack easier? i guess that makes sense, never thought about that one.

A flat top is much more desirable as a consumer for batteries because it can be packed regardless of size. Power tools, laptops, electric mowers / weed eaters, powerbanks and even electric cars such as tesla just to name a few use a wide size range of cylinder shaped batteries in packs to power the device.

Kingdal, provided a solution though. It's a magnet added to the positive contact and the the battery is rewrapped.

I hesitated to buy the button tops because of the warning that they were longer. I ended up buying the flat tops and I'm glad I did. They're about the same size as the AW 18650s and work great in my REOs and other mechs. Haven't had a problem with them yet in various mechs. Best thing is to try one and see.

Good luck

As Mentioned before, Flat Top batteries work well in Battery Packs. It is Very Easy to Solder them together in Series to Achieve Higher Voltages.

I have an e-Bike. And its "Battery" is nothing more than a Boat Load of 18650 Batteries in both Series and Parallel. The e-Bike has a Nominal Voltage of 36v.

For VV units, in my humble opinion you can't do better then the New NCR18650PF High Drain Panasonic 18650 2900 mAh Li-ion Battery button top by Orbtronic it stays above 3.7V for an incredible long period of time.

For Mechs
The Sony VTC5 Currently rules in Batteries available with Button.

The low resistance of the Sony is not really necessary in VV operation so go with size.

The panasonic NCR18650PF doesn't have a big enough button to work with the provari, which is really the only APV of interest that requires button tops.
