Ok....so I have been able to stop smoking during the day at work, but at home has been a different story. Unfortunately I still have cigarettes left from my last purchase (which are evil and I am totally working on getting rid of them)....but i find that when I am home...i crave a real cigarette a whole lot more than when i am at work. Also been having problems with being in the car especially when sitting in traffic. Anybody else find this?

If you feel like a cigarette, have a cigarette. Turning them into "forbidden fruit" doesn't exactly help with cravings. ;)

If you only smoke less, instead of not at all, that's still a positive step. To get the rest of the way, you might think about changing your setup (higher nic in the juice, higher voltage in the e-cig), or changing your routine (make your vaping routine more like your smoking routine -- if you used to go outside to smoke, go outside to vape).

Personally, I really like car vaping, because I don't need to worry about ashes or burning butts flying into the car, or trying to light the thing while also watching the road. But if there's something about analogs that you're not getting when you're in the car, try simulating whatever "trigger" it is that gives you satisfaction. Open the window even if you don't need to, or keep the e-cig perched between your fingers on the wheel, even though you could just stuff it in your pocket or lay it on the seat.

Probably the best advice. Humans want what they can't have. If you want a cigarette have one. just try try try to re-enact the feeling with the pv.

I found if I just don't buy analogs I am forced to vape. This has helped my craving a lot. If someone offers you a cigarette go ahead and take it. After two full days of vaping you will hack a lung from the horrible taste.

I vaped and smoked for about 2 weeks and finally decided I would quit with the last pack left from a carton. I also reminded myself while polishing off that last pack that when the last cigarette was gone from the pack, I was really glad that I would finally be quitting and free from the nasty taste, smell and toxins (and very thankful that I could use a PV instead of smoking!).

I also reminded myself that I was not depriving myself of cigarettes. I COULD drive and get a pack anytime I want!

Not having them in the house helped, but reminding myself that I could have one anytime really helped me get over that stress/fear about quitting.

I also used a tobacco flavor for regular vaping, and Cherry or Menthol in a higher nicotine level (24mg) to give me a heavy throat hit only for the times I was craving a cigarette. It seemed to take care of it. I never smoked menthol, but it worked and I do like the flavor and use it regularly through out the day now but have lowered all my nicotine levels of juice down to around 6-12mg.

I agree. If you have to have the real thing once in a while, go for it. You will probably find out, like most of us, that they taste really nasty after vaping for a while. The e-cigs really do have a cleaner taste.

Helen gives good advice. Buy some higher nic for the times that the cravings are really bad. It gets me over the hump and I am happy again.

I had a similar issue. It has gotten better over time.

It takes a while to get used to the PV. For the first 2 weeks my mind thought only about cigarettes. When I though about cigarettes I grabbed by PV instead.

I also needed to use the PV more often to keep the cravings at bay. Now I'm on week 3 or 4 and its gotten easier.

There are little adjustments to make. My PV does not go well with Coke. It roughs up the throat too much that way.

On the plus side, you can have different flavors. You can't really do that with cigarettes.

Hang in there and don't worry too much. It wasn't a miracle cure for me either. It does work though.

I think most people take at least a couple weeks to fully make the switch, seems perfectly normal. Regardless, I still view it as a "miracle cure" in that after just a few weeks (about 3 or 4), I was off tobacco forever... going strong for a couple months now. After trying EVERYTHING else, you best believe I consider it a miracle. :D

This is almost exactly how my wife handled it. Shes going on 7 months vaping and hasnt had to go get a cigarette yet. I presume she wont ever have to again.
I opened a pack of cigarettes one day, and had one at 7:30am when I let my dog out. I grabbed my e-cig and gave it a shot. Went all day vaping with a full pack in the house. I gave the pack with 19 cigarettes in it to my wife. I havent had one since that morning, and Im at 7 months. I love being able to keep the truck windows up and vape!

My best,
-VP
