Why do all my juices taste the same (no taste at all)?

I know the first week I was vaping I lost my taste buds (couldn't even taste mustard or sour pickles). I can taste all that again, but all of my juices taste like nothing tonight. I could taste a hint of coconut in my pina colada, but that's all. It's weird. I filled about 15 tanks with different juices before work tonight, and I sampled every single one after I noticed I couldn't taste anything. I started the night off with green mint, and I could taste that until about 3/4 through the tank. My sandwich had taste (mustard and pickles were very tart) even after I couldn't taste the mint in the tank anymore, but none of my juices do (except the coconut in the pina colada - didn't taste the pineapple or rum, and for some reason the coconut made me queasy, which is weird, because I really like coconut). I don't have any cinnamon flavors and the menthol isn't fixing it, either. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? It doesn't seem like my taste buds are off like last time, since I can taste food and beverages. It's definitely only the juices I can't taste. I cleared out the atty, even tried a different atty, and I'm getting plenty of vapor. Yes, I changed the battery, too. Is this weird, or normal? Did the green mint screw things up? It wasn't very strong, so I'm thinking that can't be it. Is it possible it's my taste buds being wonky again, even though I can taste food just fine? Maybe I'm just losing my mind? I thought I might try unflavored juice soon to aid in stealth vaping, but I realize that I'm not happy if I can't taste anything. Thanks!

This is "vapor's tongue": or at least that is what I call it.

Sometimes, and it's quite rare for me now, you just cannot taste the juice. I'll be vaping a year in June.

Suggested solutions range from drinking more water, to taking a break (couple hours) from vaping.

For me a cherry coke tends to jar my taste buds. Especially if I've drank a lot of coffee (Occupational hazard- I design computer networks and sit a lot).

Or:

Your equipment could be failing. Hard to tell unless someone can grab a draw from your PV and tell you.

My mom vapes, so I'll have her try my PV later. I hope my equipment isn't failing. I've only had it for less than 2 weeks. I know it's possible, though. Could all 4 atomizers fail at once? That seems odd (although not out of the realm of possibility). It's probably my tongue that's failing.

I guess I was hoping that once my taste buds came back this week that I was out of the woods. I was so looking forward to a yummy vape. Working nights, I sometimes get bored and need a little pick me up, but I'm just not getting it tonight, I guess. At least I can still get the nicotine! Thanks!

I hope your equipment is ok too.

As an aside, as you go forward your juice tastes may change quite a bit. Some of the stuff I vaped at the beginning I wouldn't touch now :)

AnaCat your taste buds are still healing also. I went through this about my 3rd week in. I couldn't taste anything other than atomic cinnacide. It totally sucked. I had so many good juices but just couldn't taste a darn thing. Also, try not to vape a bunch of different flavors in one day. I don't know why, but it kills my taste buds even after 8 months of vaping. I only vape 3-4 flavors a day to keep myself tasting.

Thank goodness my taste bud change lasted only one day about 3 weeks into vaping, all I remember is eating vinegar with a splash of soup in it. Ironically my sense of smell miraculously re-appeared that day too, I stepped outside and I smelled snow!

Some people say it comes and goes, luckily for me it was only one day. I just couldn't vape much that day, wasn't worth the effort. Just take it easy on the vaping and enjoy the pickles until tastes come back.

You know, hairball, you may be on to something. Even though today I only had amaretto stone sour and green mint before my problem set in, I have been going nuts trying all the new flavors I've been getting in each day. Maybe I'm overdoing it. I have been chain vaping pretty heavily in the past couple of days. Plus, all of the juices I've used this week are sweet. Maybe my tongue is just done with sweet right now.

I did try a Marlboro pre-filled cart on my 510, and I could taste that. Unfortunately, tobacco flavors taste disgusting to me now, so I put that away. I'm wondering now if I tried too many flavors yesterday, or if indeed all my atties are not happy with me tonight. I think I will have to clean them when I get home from work and see if that helps. I wish I could find a way to drip from a tank (bottles are at home, and that would probably be very messy if it's even possible). If I hooked the 510 atty that I used to taste test the Marlboro cart to my ego battery (because I know that atty is working just fine) and tried to drip from the tanks I can't taste, I'd probably know for sure if all 4 ego-t atties (2 regular, 2 LR) were messed up or if it's that I just can't taste the sweet flavors in the tanks.

Thanks!

I will. Last week when I couldn't taste pickles it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. If I couldn't even taste pickles, no food would taste like anything, and it didn't. I love food, and that was like the end of the world! LOL I think I am vaping too much. Thanks!

I think I figured out what it was! I had tried a new juice (peanut butter cookie) after I gave up on the mint, and apparently it wasn't sweetened (you would think peanut butter cookie would be a sweet flavor). It tasted so nasty, and I now realize that the taste is *still* in my mouth (and won't go away). I think it's dulled my taste buds, and that's why I can't taste any of my other juices. I'll have to see what happens when I brush my teeth and tongue when I get home from work. I really think that's it. Why would you not sweeten a juice that's supposed to taste like peanut butter cookie? Gross. I'll add sweetener to it later. Sigh... It's not that I overdid it with the sweet flavors, it's that the flavor I tried after the mint was nasty. I guess I live and I learn!

That taste may also be stuck in the atomizer :(

At least for a while.

For me it has been a come and go thing. I had the best couple of weeks vaping that I have had since I started. Then one morning I woke up and could taste virtually nothing. Some of my stronger flavors gave me a hint of taste, but nothing like it should have been. Several days like that, then BOOM, everything is back, (until next time). This happens to me on a regular basis and has for the past six months. I have found (for me) that coffee seems to dull my sense of taste. So I try to limit my intake. I've tried several palate clearing techniques: tooth and tongue brushing, vinegar rinse, menthol, cinnamon, etc. Nothing seems to be THE answer. Eventually it just returns to normal. When I get the taste slump, I turn to vaping something like Geoff's Blend from TV which has a strong enough flavor to give me at least something. Some of us are just prone to the affliction I fear. Hang in, it too will pass.

I have thought maybe that it was just me. I have been at this for over 3 months now, and can not say that I have had any time that I have tasted much of anything other then menthol(which I never have liked even in ciggies). At times they are even very faint and aren't something I want to vape in the first place. I have had juices from several places even dbl flavor. I am almost to the point of just going with the unflavored juice. I would love to be able to say that a juice is "Awesome" just once! Amazes me when I see a review of a complex juice with different flavors mentioned when I do good if I ever get a hint of one flavor.

While my worst problems with my taste buds came a few times in the first 2 months of vaping it took me 5 months before I could say my taste buds had completely settled down. I really did think they were mostly ok after about 2 months but in reality it took much longer before I could taste things the way I really should have been. We're all different, but I suspect it takes more people longer than they think it will.

Great term for it Cozzicon. I'm almost 8 mths in and this has happened to me 4 times. It's gone in a day, but makes you crazy! "Is it my juice?, My equipment? Am I sick? Did I kill my taste buds with that last flavor?". I have no explanation for it, but I think it's pretty common.
