Realy love my new tanks , my favorite is the Triple V sidewinders . But lately I've had an issue with the Carto's that I can't figure out . I cant seem to get more than a tank(3ml) and maybe a half through one before it floods , burgles and I have to clean my MOD . It hapens with thick juice , it happens with thin juice . The carto's I'm using are from the local B&M shop . Thay are double laser cut with verticle oblong cutes and 4ohm .

That's what I am using right now. Due to a backlog on USPS my e liquid from the vapor room is taking forever. So I went and picked up more purple sludge. It's one of my all time favorites :)

May I suggest that you have a 'worn'/'shaved' o-ring, aka vacuum leak (loss of seal)? Anytime I've had a leak from my tanks it was due to faulty o-rings.

I can also agree with too large a slot/hole/etc. But I've punched three equidistant holes without a flooding issue.

Pease keep us posted as to any resolution. Good luck!

You have an air leak somewhere, as you vape, air is being pulled into the tank via the broken seal. It is creating excess pressure inside the tank which will eventually force juice through the hole and out the bottom of the carto. Vape in front of a mirror and see if you see any air bubbles coming from anywhere other than the punched hole.

I had a similar issue a while back with my Mom and Pop tanks using Boge cartos which I was punching myself. They did fine for a couple/few tankfuls and then they started flooding and continued to do so. These are tanks which have a filling screw in the clear outer sleeve. I thought it might be that the screw was letting air leak in so I used a small O-ring to seal it. No noticeable change.

Then as a test I tried thickening my juice with a bit of VG. This improved things but I didn't want to add vg to my juices so I started experimenting with fewer and smaller holes in the cartos. This has worked for me for all the juices I use, mostly 50/50 pg/vg with a few 70/30. The thinner the juice, the trickier it is to get the right hole combination. I'm still thinking I might have a leak somewhere, but it's not bothering me enough to dig deeper.

I started out with the grommet style tanks from MomandPop.. even bought some tubing and grommets and made some myself. You'd think that since that grommet has a death grip on the carto that it wouldn't leak air but it does. I drilled some holes to make filling easier but finding a screw that would fit in the hole without letting in air is hard to do (and expensive.. I've got probably 100 screws laying around here) I had so much problems with flooding with the grommet style tanks that I almost gave up on tanks. For the last year I've been using that cheap dctanks and have not had any problems with flooding unless it was from the one that I drilled a screw/fill hole (stupid) and the screw gets loose and lets in air. I use boge cartos, 70%PG 30%VG with one rather large punched hole. The only time I've ever had flooding was if the air pressure built up inside the tank. It's all a matter of air pressure.

When you get a punch tool can you adjust the size of the hole you punch?

donnah, the cheap DC tanks I see advertised all use rubber grommets. I must be missing something. Which ones are you using? Any info is much appreciated :toast:

The tanks I use were bought in a co-op but Liberty-Flights sells the same ones. Here are some cheaper ones that will probably work just as well. I use ex boge 3ohm cartos (also from a co-op) but I also use these. I usually just use a hammer and sharp screw to punch a hole in my cartos but I just bought this nifty little gadget from surevapes.

crystalclearvaping and surevapes both have free shipping. I don't use dual coil cartos in my tanks, I use the single coils listed above. Both crystalclearvaping and surevapes sell dc tanks.

I've been using a hammer and long, sharp screw to punch holes in my cartos. I post a link above to a cheap ($5.75) carto punch tool that works good. and it's free shipping! My juice is pretty thin 70/30 PG/VG.. I punch one hole. It's large enough that I can see the filler inside the carto. The prepunched cartos have a tiny little "pin ....." hole. My holes are much larger. And again... never any problems with flooding due to the size of my holes.

Hah hah, I thought about using a hammer and a screw/nail to puncture my cartos, but decided against it. No where near as confidant in my skills to do such a thing.

If you're using "replacement" flanged cartos with two+ holes, i, and you prime the carto normally (up to 20 drops), yes, it will flood.

I primed a 2.0 ohm LR replacement carto with 20 drops, and when I slid it into the tank and filled the tank, I saw a ton of air bubbles and with each bubble the juice level got lower and lower. When I screwed it on to my pv, I got slurpy sounds. I took it off and blew the connection end into a rag and juice just came pouring out.

With those 2 hole cartos, I've decided to prime the carto by 1/2, since I've seen with my own eyes how much juice gets sucked into it the polyfill on its own.

Just got my new tank yesterday, smok carto's 3.2 ohm single coil pre-punched. I've vaped 2 1/2 tanks and now it's starting to gurgle and be tight and act like it's flooding and it's leaking out the bottom. What's up with that? I use 50/50 Cafe Coffee. Does this mean 1 carto is only going to last me 1 day? That's awful expensive if that is the case!!
