Well Currently I have been on and off vaping, for the reason posted in the title.. I have a Ego C-twist and a iTaste MVP v2.. All of my liquids are for the most part 70/30 16 mg, and alot of the times When I take a hit it almost burns.. Sometimes it makes my lungs hot/hurt , other times its just a uncomfortable hit.. I use this chart as a reference for voltage.

http://www.vaporsworld.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/power-vaping-chart-lg.jpg

I will say this.. and its weird.. The c twist and my original 3.6v non adjustable joye ego battery ( usually used as a backup ) seem to have it happen all the time, while the MVP it only seems to happen every so often, or with certain liquids.

Am I doing something wrong? On the c twist, when it started to burn my chest I would dump and clean the tanks ( vivi nova 2ml ) and the atty ( anywhere from 1.8-2.4 ohm ) let dry, then let a new liquid soak in and it still does it.. try a new atty, and still the same result.. I put it in the MVP at the same voltage of the twist ( on a 1.8 ohm atty, usually run 4v )

I have random 2.8 attys that actually hurt/burn less with a lower voltage, even tho I was told to double the ohm to get the correct voltage . ( ie 2 ohm atty, run 4 volts )

I reaaalllllyyyy want to continue this as I like vaping and all the different variety , but when it actually hurts to do it, its not any fun..

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks

Matt

What juices are using? Have you tried turning twist all the way down to see it you still get hot hits?

Nothing really jumps out at me. Were/are you a smoker? If so, did you find cigarettes harsh or hot?

Higher VG juice will reduce or eliminate the throat hit. I have one juice I use first thing in the morning when I don't want throat hit, it's 65% VG, not enough Os in smooth to describe it. If you have a local B& with a juice bar see if they have some big VG juice. PG is where the throat hit comes from. You might also consider lowering the nic content from 18mg to 12mg, nic contribute to throat hit.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using a local store , and they have a descent juice bar ( about 60 flavors or so , and no nicotine in anything on the juice bar ) Its been a while since I've vaped, and it was for this exact reason.. Yes I still smoke ( marb lights ) and there is zero hot harsh hits with those..I've dropped from a pack a day to about a pack every 3 days.. I could see myself quitting entirely, but the hot harsh hits make it uncomfortable so I end up stopping vaping.

I have turned the twist all the way down, but there is almost no hit or cloud at all and I dont even feel like IM getting a hit. Like I said almost everything they make in house is 70/30 and 16mg

Should have also added to try a bottom coil device like a Kanger Pro Tank II. The Vivi Nova is a top coil so it's going to be a hotter vape than a bottom coil, the heat is further away from the drip tip in a bottom coil device. The PT II can be finicky but if you add the Aerotank base to it it will vape nicely for you.

Others will along to give you more suggestions and hopefully give you more ideas on a nice bottom coil clear (BCC).

Try adjusting the twist all the way down, and inch it back up until you get a reasonable amount of vapor. The charts and recommended voltages are a starting point, if it's too hot or too harsh, lower the voltage a bit...:)

Also when you puff, take a long, slow, gentle draw - 5 or 6 seconds, very different from a cigarette. It gives the liquid a chance to wick to the coil and get vaporized....:vapor:

edit: p.s. I've found my vivi nova like a lower voltage for a nice vape.

Have you tried any non tobacco flavors? When I first started vaping I only wanted tobacco flavors, thought thats what I needed to simulate a cigarette. Now I can't stand tobacco flavors. If you can try fruit or desert flavors you may find something smoother.

Also still believe you will benefit from trying something high in VG. I assume when you say your current juices are 70/30 you mean 70% PG 30% PG???

Well, there could be a couple of things going on here. My first guess is that you are using direct lung inhales. If this is the case, try inhaling into your mouth only (like a cigar) with a slow draw (like drinking a milkshake through a straw).

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/337017-inhalation-technique-e-cigarette.html

This is my thought based on the fact that you didn't say the juice tasted burnt but that the vapor seemed to hot.

Also, the chart that you posted is only a guide. The voltage that you run at is a personal experience. Some people prefer higher voltage and some prefer lower voltage. Generally, until you figure out what you like for the juice you are using, start at a low voltage and work your way up slowly until you find the "sweet spot" that works for you.

As was suggested above, a bottom coil tank tends to be cooler as well. My wife prefers to direct lung inhale, but that only works on her bottom coil tanks. Before I realized that she was doing lung inhales, I let her try one of my drippers that had not been modified for better airflow and she nearly hacked up a lung.

wow, I have alot of catching up to do. At this point and my lack of knowledge , links would work best to tell me what to try and where to buy from lol..

So what are the differences between the vivi nova tank that I have, compared to the dual coil tank that came with my MVP, vs. the KP 2 tank?

also, I just put in a new 1.8 ohm atty in my MVP and its reading 2.1, is this normal?

Thank you.. the last purchase I bought ( before my MVP 2 ) was the twist the vivi tanks and 1.8, 2.4 and 2.8 attys .. I want to buy a buch of 2.2s ( or something close ) as it seems like a perfect medium.

The local guy told me either the MVP 2 or the provari would be my best choice as a battery, but they seem uncertain or uneducated on everything else, so thats why Im coming back here, as you guys and gals have helped me more than I can explain.

Dandreid had a great link for "Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette", very important to get a good vape.

That said all of your toppers, even if they are the same ohms, with taste a bit different, have a bit different heat...adjust your voltage to whatever you like. Then look to see what the voltage is set to, so you can reproduce it....:) Don't get hung up on numbers.

a new 1.8 ohm atty reading 2.1, is normal, quality control is somewhat lacking in the manufacturing

There is you perfect marb light juice my friend!

As well I had Alot of the same issue until I switched to a 50pg 50vg blend haven't had the hot hits since.

Also as stated before voltage is a personal thing start at lowest and slowly work your way up till you find your flavor sweetspot.

Also as stated above if you prefer a cool vape as I do bottom coil tanks are best I used the iclear 16b with my MVP. Also prefer Aspire BDC tanks bdc stands for bottom dual coil

Thanks, Im not sure why but the local shop said that I shouldn't buy bottom coil tanks with the MVP... Im not sure why.. But I think I need a new vendor.. preferably online

Are these 70% PG or 70% VG? Have to assume if they are hot, harsh they are PG, never heard of a harsh 70% VG juice.

Personally I vape 70% PG at 24mg mic but I smoked 2.5 to 3 packs of reds a day. I crave the throat hit, except first thing in the morning thats when I grab the high VG stuff, just want the morning mic but no throat hit.
