I am a newly registered on the site but have been following various threads for a while. My question is why do so many threads go off topic? I have read every post on the Zmax thread but I cannot post there yet. There seems to be so much non Zmax posting about what juice people have just purchased or what happened during the Vietnam war and how things are in Thailand!!! Please dont think that I am being rude but surely a thread about the Zmax should be just that. If I want to read about Thailand I will look at Trip advisor, if I want to read or discuss juices I will go to the relevant thread. Even when the mods post that they are having to clean up threads, the off topic stuff starts all over again.
I hope I have not offended anyone but hijacking a thread to carry on a non related conversation with another member does not seem right. You could always carry on your 2 way conversations by PM :2c:

Thanks to you all for your kind welcome. Wasn't moaning.....well perhaps just a little. I am quite new to vaping and have been through the cig-a-like to the Ego to the Provari along with Genesis Maxi, DiD, Vision C4`s and Vivi Nova. From ready made juices to making my own to "boutique juices" and I am going round in circles. I now have settled on the Provari Mini and some Ego twists, C4`s and Vivi Novas. I am very tempted by the Vmax but may wait for a SS version.
Can we talk about rabbits and hedgehogs now?

Because a forum is not just an information database. It's a group of people with a common interest socializing and sharing information.

Then why do the Mods have to keep cleaning the threads and asking members to keep on topic?

Presumably that is what the Lounge and Members blog is for!

It's called tolerance for human nature, and to have to "enforce" so rigidly is tantamount to a militant type of mentality and power wielding, which leads to abuse of power and whiners ruling the roost. There optimally should be compromise, without damaging abuse, in anything in a perfect totally conformist world...good luck with that. Personally I enjoy the comments that give me a giggle or show humanity, otherwise I would stick to Wikipedia and other dry sites. How hard is is to scroll past a bit and glean what you seek?

The short answer to your question is "because this is the internet." Nature of the beast.

I've been visiting discussion forums since 1995 back in the usenet days (when usenet was mainly for discussion not freeloading pirated stuff.) I also administer a fairly popular forum myself.

There are usually two extremes - either the forum is full of self-appointed forum police who clutter the forum with "RTFM, there's already a thread about that..., stop necro-ing old threads, etc type of posts" or its more relaxed and there's more difficulty sifting through the clutter.

Most of the people here seem generally helpful and willing to help newcomers albeit they like to take advantage of every opportunity to brag about their gear or themselves like I did. :p If you haven't found the answer to your question in a sticky or in a reasonable amount of time using search, just ask it in a new thread. Reviving hijacked threads is a fool's game that never works.

My tips for asking questions on internet forums:
- Put the precise point of your question in the topic title, expand on it in the first sentence or two.
- If you need to supply more background do so in the following short paragraphs.
- When possible use short concise bullet points like I am here.

Whatever you do, don't put something catchy or attention getting in the title. Use it to get the point like you did with this thread. Don't use topic titles like "ZOMG I'm gonna throw my LT out the window" when you have a question about why the button is sticky on your Lava Tube.

And don't build up to the main point like they teach you in school - start off with the main question you want to ask. Most people don't even read past the topic title.

LOL!

Well let me ask you something.

Just how much info do you think there is pertaining to the Zmax?

I mean it's a VV device, it takes batteries and you can slap just about anything on it's 510 connection.

You set the voltage mostly by taste and you vape away.

Almost all this crap is like that. In fact, if you ask anyone who has been vaping for a little while they will tell you they don't really need to read directions or do a whole lot of research when buying a new device because they are all pretty much the same.

Once a person learns they have to keep their batteries charged and to avoid burning up their delivery system they gotta keep it wet there's really not a whole lot to vaping.

I certainly don't come here cuz I need info on how to vape, I check out this forum just to hang out with a bunch of folks that quit smoking using E- Cigs and possibly help some new person who is burning up carto's or doing something else that's dumb just like I did the 1st couple of days after I decided to quit smoking and start vaping.

The ONLY folks I seem to see around here that are really "confused" regarding vaping are the folks who are trying to decide what to buy to get started and honestly I think those folks would be best off just buying a couple 650 mah batteries, a pack of boge 2ohm carto's and a bottle of 24 mg. juice and "getting started".

I bet 99% of the folks here are not using the 1st device they bought as their "go to" E Cig when they got started with no matter how long they took choosing their first E Cig so I see no point in delaying the first purchase.

I look at it this way. If somebody addicted to nicotine orders a starter kit, throws their smokes away the day the kit arrives and then opens up their kit while literally dying for a cigarette they will pick up on vaping REAL FAST and have their new E Cigs producing clouds of vapor within minutes of opening up their new kit. To me it's all about staying off the cigarettes at first and all it takes is a battery, a Carto and some juice to do that.

Which reminds me, I once had a dog that had seven toes on one foot and a breath that smelled so bad it should've been coming out the other end. I wish I could sleep, but my dam A.D.D. kicks in and well basically, one sheep, two sheep, cow, turtle, duck, Ol Mac Donald had a farm...Heeeeey Macarena! :p :D

We have a tendency to go off topic on my favorite threads sometimes. It is usually vaping related, though. Example: A juice thread talking about tanks and rebuilding them. It happens. We get back on topic pretty quick though.

Maybe you could try starting your own thread with a specific question? There are hundreds of threads and thousands of members. Just get in where you fit in. Take what you like and leave the rest. The Mods will always handle it if it gets out of hand.

P.S.~ Thailand??? Tell me more!!!

You will have to read the 80 odd pages of the Zmax thread:)
