I thought I read a post for increasing the success of your transition to E-Cigs, But I have been searching for a few hours and cant find one.
I'm really new to E-cigs four months and I want to share my experiences with failures and relapses and If anyone has some pointers for us New Folks I'm sure It will help.
1. Don't just buy any model. I bought a cheap brand from a tobacco store for 60 dollars and where I live the market is flooded with low grade kits. It had 1 battery, 1 atomizer one USB(only) charger and a extremely small cartridge. Needless to say, although I was somewhat intrigued I was deeply disappointed for wasting 60 bucks.
2. Don't be overly cheap. Im sure you can find a kit for 15 bucks, but they will most likely be disappointing. After being informed by a friend I upgraded my model a little and found quite a bit of gratification with a better unit. Do your research and find a good balanced product with performance and price for you.
3. Try the juice. Where I got my first kit, they only sold refill cartridges with low nic. My first try of "real" juice was a shocker. So much flavor, so much vapor, It opened my eyes to the value of the e-cig. I was hooked. I had a decent kit and decent juice. I began to feel it was a crime that this tobacco store was selling this inferior product, because i was almost turned away from e-cigs.
4. Keep your juice well stocked. We are all trying to get off analogs. So the worst thing that can happen is to run out of juice and relapse. So keep an eye on your supply and don't allow yourself to fall short.
5. It's not that weird. Some people think its weird or corney, but its not. It's actually cool even though people may try to make fun of it. The bottom line is people (like I used to be) that are uneducated tend to poke fun, but when ever you puff your e-cig everyone notices and they want to know what it is, how it works, how they can find one, and deep down they are curious, maybe to the point of envy.
6. Don't attract negative attention. When I first started smoking E-Cigs I was a little over zealous, I was vaping everywhere. And although I wasn't standing directly under a sign that says no smoking I wasn't too far away. I dont do that anymore, it attracts negative vibes and I do not want to degrade the mission we are all taking. Instead I now smoke where smoking is allowed and at bars. I let the workers know that I have an electronic cigarette and inform them on what it is before I start vaping. Once again I don't want to be yelled at --"you cant smoke in here!", then have to back-track with explanations to save face and embarrassment.
7. Check your nicotine level. For me when I started using E-juice my first day was with MED nicotine. I have no idea how much this particular company considers MED nicotine to contain, but I noticed I was still craving analogs and sneaking one just to get my fix. I switched up to the HIGH nic juice instead and I was fine I no longer needed a fix from an analog. There are many companies with different levels and methods. Some put the level in milligrams directly on the bottle and some only put HIGH-MED-LOW. While some may consider high to be 24Mg some may consider high to be 18Mg. Find what works for you and/or find the tutorial in this forum that teaches you about finding your nicotine level.
8. Don't get down on yourself. Be honest with yourself if you are still smoking analogs also, but are upset with yourself because you didn't quit completely, ask your self this: Am I smoking less analogs than normal? If so then you have a marker to rate some progress. And progress is good. Try and figure out why you're still craving analogs and make the adjustment i.e. cheap unit, poor quality juice, not enough nicotine?
9. Some people just don't get it. Like politics, I just don't get it. Some people are like that, but you do and that's why you're vaping. Don't get discouraged ask questions and enjoy your progress. Find a buddy on here or make everyone your friend and talk about enjoying vaping and how many analogs you have quit. Although some people may never totally quit, cutting your consumption of analogs dramatically can only be a benefit. I am aware that when I have a child I may have to smoke a Cohiba or some cigar, but Im ok with that.
10. Help a buddy. If you know someone that is failing at E-Cigs, ask yourself why and make a suggestion that might help them. If you have better/stronger juice give them a some drops to try. If you have a better kit let them sample and show them where to get one. After all, they're in the same boat we once were when we ventured into the world of E-cigs in hopes of quitting.
We are all trying to quit.
So thats my 2 cents. If anyone has 2 cents to add to help some of these poster that say they are going back to analogs or quiting e-cigs, Share it with us.
Happy Vaping!
