Why do some people relapse and E-Cigs fail for them...?

Very helpful post.
Good point about not running low on e-liquid. Also extra atomizers and batteries. It's a learning curve. Takes time One 'trick' I learned is if I am running low on juice, I split my order between two suppliers. That way I increase my chance of at least one order arriving in time.

One thing that helped me a lot was the thread about nicotine and the "whole tobacco alkaloids". When I first started vaping it was wonderful and new and ciggies were not even in my head. After a couple of weeks my brain started to nag at me that I was "missing" something. Well the good folks on that thread talked ALOT about that something, lol. It's an intense thread and not for the weak of heart. It helped me though... now when I get an urge for an analog I can say to myself "SELF! you are just missing some of those OTHER chemicals from ciggies" and I vape until I pretty much get over it. These urges are getting further apart and shorter for me. For some, snus or snuff or other smokeless tobacco stuffs might be necessary to get over the hump.

Hi all, IMO the major factor is that the e-cig is still very not user friendly. No matter how good the brand is, one still need at least 2 weeks of learning curve to adjust to it, this is the most crucial timing for a hardcore smoker whom intended to give up smoking. and for those whom not so internet orientated, they will not know whats erally wrong if the e-cig not performing. I'm sure every e-cig user here have frustration at times when the tool does not delivered.
Just hope this e-cig one day will be easily available with much improved technology. Pardon my english.

At only 2 weeks without I haven't gotten past the hump yet. But so far for me the biggest thing I miss is the sequence. That is I took out a cig, lit it up, smoked it and then put it out. To me a very noticeable beginning and more importantly end. I find I still miss the "done now" feeling I had after putting the cigarette out in the ashtray even after 2 weeks. Not nearly as much as I did, but I still do :(

Yep.. I understand exactly what you mean. I used to read when I went out to smoke... the ciggy was a perfect timer for how long I could stay there and enjoy the book and the sunshine before I had to go back to work. Sometimes I go out with my pv but it's not the same since it never ends and I don't get any work done, lol.

Someone on here went as far as taking a certain number of draws and then putting it "out" on the desk to get the "done" feeling. Was that you?

Very nice guide Chief Rocka.

For me, it was finding that "Perfect" juice that bedazzled my taste buds. When I try and smoke an analog I tell myself that "this tastes absolutely terrible. I could be puffin' away on my e-cig right now and be completely satisfied with my astounding flavor." It's worked so far; however, I'm currently only in the beginning stages. There are so many variables when it comes to quitting.

Well I cant lie, I started using a pv for my hubby's benefit. He quit smoking the hard way.
I give him credit but I didnt want to quit so enter the pv.
I intended to just use it when he was around but sorta just forgot to buy cigs after a while and ended up quitting by accident,
I still dont think of it as a stop smoking device, it is just something I found that I like better then cigs, not to mention the health benefits have been enormous !!
So I will keep happily vaping.

I've been vaping for two months now. Was disappointed that I'm still smoking but when I look at the "25 avoided each day" that boost me up. My taste buds are still shot so juice was not tasting great (very mild). Today I had my first batch of "Wow". So I think be kind to ourselves and realize we are really making progress. Just be patient as said many times here it is a learning curve but so worth it.

I keep bumping into people who give up their PVs and go back to cigs because they "have to keep buying stuff" and don't want to do that. I do not understand this, because I had to keep buying cigarettes when I smoked, and lighters too.

I think some people just want a magic genie who will poof them into being a non-smoker.

I agree with a lot of statements here too many to quote.:thumb:

I find a lot of people are shocked by the initial investment, but because they are uneducated they don’t realize that they save money. Plus they are uncertain of IF the product will work.
This is all relative to who, what and where you buy from, but relatively speaking you can invest $100 and get a decent kit with carts and juice that will last you 2 months(give or take). I am assuming you buy a kit with 10 carts and maybe 2 juice for $100. Even if by some reason my math is incorrect and you go to $150 for the initial investment you will still save $110. Then after that it takes off because you only have maintenance purchases and not a full kit.
At a pack a day at 6 dollars a pack, that equates to $360. A savings of $260 @ $100 investment. Plus the added health benefits.

That wasn't me. I was smoking a few analogs the first 3 days I had my DSE901. I went so far as to count (between 10 and 13 puffs) and time (between 4:40 and 6:05) myself smoking a cigarette. But trying to take 10 vapes spread over 5 minutes just didn't do a thing for me. Or perhaps I should say it didn't make vaping feel any more like smoking that just taking puffs on my PV without concern for time or quantity. Once I found a cart mod that got me better liquid flow I learned to just vape when I felt like it and was able to ignore that missing "done now" feeling much better.

I ended up with 3 complete e-cigs and 4 batteries because I purchased 2 starters and also a sample e-liquid assortment. One has the tobacco flavor prefilled carts from those starters, one has menthol and one had 'different stuff.' I'd take a few puffs of tobacco, then 1 or 2 of menthol when I felt a strong cigarette raving otherwise I'd puff at the various samples I had. Once I found a tobacco flavor from the samples I had I changed over to that instead of the starter tobacco flavor.

But that's how I still vape now. Just the distribution changed. Those first 3 to 5 days it was about 3/4 of 4-5 puffs of tobacco followed by 1-2 of menthol and 1/4 with 4-5 of the flavor of the day. Now its more like 1/3 tobacco/menthol and 2/3 the flavor I'm trying.

I've seen many posts looking for a good "menthol cigarette" flavor and I haven't seen too many people saying they found one that really was just like a cigarette. I'm reasonably happy with my solution of a good tobacco flavor followed by a menthol I like. Mixing them together did not work for me but I do like the 2 separate PV method.
