When a pedestrian (and when outside my own house), I always field dressed my butts and found the nearest trash can.

However, I also always flicked my cigs out the window when driving. Reason: I didn't want to smell up my car or my person. I was always a stealth smoker, with lots of air freshner sprays in my car, mints, and bottles of sanitizer. The vast majority of people had no idea that I smoked, even though I smoked a pack a day for 30 years.

Knew it was the wrong thing to do and one of the many reasons I'm glad I'm now off of analogs.

I call BS on anyone who claims to have smoked for any decent amount of time and NEVER - not once, not one.single.time - disposed of their cigarette butts improperly. I hate littering just like the next average guy, but I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I was the poster-child of ....-disposal perfection for 25 years.

This just goes to show what I've always said, no one on the planet despises smokers (and their habits) more than some ex-smokers.

I was a prolific .... chewer over misplaced butts long before I started vaping. Regardless...your indignation is misplaced.

Now drop and give me twenty.

ya know?? in the military they tell us to crumble them up and they are biodegradable, or they did when i was in the army some time agoooooo hahahaha

Yup...aka field dressing.

They may have used paper filters in the past but today's cigarette filters are made of plasticized cellulose acetate and can take up to two decades to biodegrade.

So yeah, technically they are biodegradable.

i threw my bio degradable butts on the ground sometimes...guilty.

why did I do it? I obviously didnt care about my own health let alone the mess I left behind. Changing my lifestyle is having a bigger impact than I expected. I will probably spend the rest of my life picking up butts I find to try and make up for it.

I'll never figure out why smokers toss lit butts out the car window while driving down a road surrounded by lots of dry brush on both sides. Wildfires can really ruin people's day.

I never threw my butts out of the car window as someone who rides a motorcycle. Ever been hit by a lit .... from the car in front of you? Perhaps burning a hole in your $200+ leather jacket? Yeah...

Yeah I can see how that would suck. Getting hit in the face while wearing an open face helmet with no "shield" sucks just as bad. Been there done that and almost wrecked my Kawasaki because of it.

Yeah, very upsetting and a good way to ruin a nice ride. Also could invoke road rage on my part...I know guys that carry pockets full of marbles when riding for teaching people a lesson (not that I'm advocating that)....

I had an angry wasp fly into my helmet one day....probably a similar experience as to catching a lit .... in the face.
