I've had quite a lot of RBAs, like hornet (sold), reomizer (sold), and now I have a igo-l and I either dont get much vapor (i do place airhole next to the coil) or throat taste is too strong or it tastes horrbile right from the start. I tried dry burning heating up coil before applying and nothing has worked. I've spent countless meters of presious silica wick and wire, measure resistance with metter , did different resistance coils and still no luck :/ The only one that has worked (kinda) was gp spheroid, it kinda worked cause i got an ok vapor, flavor and throat hit but not nearly as much as other people on YT videos (oh and to make it worse I lost spheroid while being out). Please someone help me out or point me in a right direction ... Regards

I clean all RBA's prior to initial use by disassembling and placing in a bath of boiling water and dawn. Rinse thoroughly in water. Then an alcohol bath. Then another rinse. Most RBA's ship new with oil on them to resist oxidation.

If its a preowned RBA, it can take several baths to remove flavors. I also even had to remove the terminal screws and boil / rinse several times on two preowned (one was previously used with pluid and the other with a cinnamon flavor) to get the old flavors out completely.

Additionally, I always heat the Kanthal red with a bic lighter 3 times with a flush in cold water between each burn prior to wrapping the coil.

I have never used silica, but find that rolled cotton works very well. It is important for the cotton to get saturated completely before heating it up.

I do not dry burn my coil, because it produces a very nasty taste for the successive 5 or so hits after a dry burn but I only use unflavored nic in mostly VG. It is extremely kind to coils and wicks :).

Simply slide out the old wick and thread in another.

Good luck!

I'm not sure what you're doing wrong... I have a lot of high-end RBAs but the best experience I have had to date?.... Igo-L on a mech mod with a low resistance coil.

Add to that that it is the absolute easiest setup of all my RBAs.

It literally takes me less than five minutes from start to scratch and it vapes so great that I can hardly believe it.

A 3/4 wrap with 28ga on a 3mm wick doubled-over... and voila... good to go.

The glowing red coil means that you have a short. This causes a horrible harsh metallic taste. If you're confident that you've followed instructions on your coiling, try pulsing the coil and playing with the different wraps with a toothpick. Gently move the coils up or down, starting from the bottom. Before you vape that thing you'll want to be sure that you have no hot spots on the coil. It does take patience, but as with all other things practice will make you more proficient. Good luck!

can you guys point me to some ultra noob guide on how to build a solid, good coil ? I've watched so many videos and i do the exact thing they do, maybe its the wire or wick or the juice im mixing...

Bydus, the ones I found to be most helpful were actually detailed, step by step pictures rather than a video. Most videos just aren't clear enough or zoomed in enough. If its for a bottom fed or dripping RBA, I can help. If its for a tank type, not so much.

did you burn your wire with a lighter ? I assume from your post yes
did you boil your silica/cotton before. This alone can already make a huge difference

Also some make sure your coil is getting enough juice. If it's to loose, then you get a funky taste (from my own experience)

its a dripping rba, i recoiled it no glowing but I have a very strong TH and almost no vapor with cap on and weird taste :( when i take off the cap it vapes very nice. I have a hole right in front of the coil ..

Would you post a pic of the coil / wick and diagnosis will be that much easier. :)

Sounds like you need to make the airhole bigger. You'll get a lot more vapor and less throat hit. Just go a little at a time, if you go too big it's hard to fix. For me 1/16" is the maximum for me and that's only on a 1.2 ohm coil with mesh wick. My other setups are smaller than that. Also try different positions with the airhole before you make it bigger and as you go. I know it sounds tedious but I really think that's the issue you're having, your wick/coil looks like it should be doing fine. Once you get it right it'll be worth the effort.
