I was just wondering why it seems like all vapors can not spell out words after reading a recent post where they put PS PT. If anyone wonders why newbies post so many questions it is because they need a vaping translator in order to understand half the posts that are on here.

Proper formatting would be to spell out the word such as Pure smoker (PS), pass through (PT) then continue with using the abbevations. I am not trying to give a spelling or grammar lesson far from it just trying to make it easier for those of us who do not have all of the lingo down. I have read the lists and lists of abbrevations but that does not always help when you decide to create your own combination just because you can.

I have to agree with you. I have only been here a couple of weeks and was totally confued with all the acronyms. I ended up having to reaserch what they all were. I have some of them down, but others I still do not know what the heck they mean. I guess in time we will al be as knowledgable as the "cool people" here. laugh out loud (lol)

Oh NO! vaping makes your spelling worse..how much worse can I get?!

Somebody please tell me how to get the spellcheck to work in here!

I am kidding, (not about my spelling) but about your intent. I agree that it does get confusing when trying to help new people when everyone just uses letters. It took me forever to figure out what a PCC was!

You think vaping causes this? You must not have ever communicated with other people on the internet before.

I suggest that you head over to any MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) gaming forum for a crash course in the horrors of online communication. It will destroy your hope for humanity, while educating you about "internet shorthand". If you can tread the water there, you can handle any other internet forum.

LOL, idk man. My 510 PV needs a PCC, but if the PS PT is any good I may just forgo getting it (the PCC, not the PS PT). FWIW, a lot of the acronyms here make me go "WTF" OTTOH and I have to sit an think about 'em for a minute, KWIM?

Seriously though, there are a lot of acronyms out there, and I doubt vaping causes people to lose their capabilities of spelling out words. It's the internet that causes the 'short-hand' to appear more frequently. And while the acronyms are annoying, I find the loss of the underlying grammar to be more annoying :p. But hey, to each their own!

Your can thank "texting", Twitter, etc. for the new way to send information. I worry that in the future, no one will remember how to spell any words. As it is, I have become very dependent on spell check.

While "texting" is currently the culprit for all the stupid acronyms today, this movie quote from Good Morning Vietnam is still the coolest.
Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

But ya, I wish we could get rid of acronyms all together. Only exception would be the military but that's just me.

This last year of college I got a group together for my sociology final and we did a survey/study on the impact of the internet on the English language (I was also able to use the results of this on my English final :D). Many of us are/were gamers so that is where we pulled our main pool for the surveys. We researched the progression of acronyms and abbreviations (ROF, Rofl, roffle-waffle), the creation of new words (leet) and even the popularization of uncommon words (epic/uber).

It was a little alarming what we found in terms of total change to the language in this age (the technological age) than in any other point in time.

This whole world is a confusing mess of abbreviations!! If you're like me you switch words inside out bad enough already. Kinda dangerous to do that with abbreviations.
Thanks DaMulta, I was looking for that! Going to copy it myself and hang it above my PC here. These just aren't anywhere to be found in my Webster's College Edition New World Dictionary of the American Language. Course it's a 1958 Edition, may be time for an update!

Angus, that made perfect sense to me! And ExDuzit, that is so true. It's all about phonetics and dipthongs. You get the jive of it. Same thing as jist, only more musical.
