Why flavor?

What is the reason for flavoring e-liquids? Are there unflavored/odorless liquids available to vape without having to do any home concocting? What are they like?

As an alternative to JUUL which has almost no smell, I've been trying "tobacco" flavors, like Cuttwood tobacco Road, which isn't too bad but still has a sweetish background taste or smell that I can't quite put my finger on.

A significant nmber of people vape unflavored. I do DIY and use 1% flavoring which is may be a tenth of what typical. I hear the JUUL is selling well and popular. May be the JUUL is the cigalike that doesn't suck but it doesn't interest me. For one thing my DIY costs about 8 cents a day. By using very little flavoring odor is minized. In a small amount of space and minimal expense I can stockpile enough vaping supplies for a decate or more just in case governments decide to tax vaping or restrict access to products.

Yes, you can buy unflavored nicotine base in quite a few different, ready to vape, nicotine strengths, as well as choosing from several different PG/VG ratios to have it mixed with. It seems most who buy it that way buy the 3mg, or 6mg, or 12mg. I don't buy and use it like that myself, but quite a few people do. However, it's not the most cost effective DIY method.

Most who DIY and want the most "bang for their buck"...buy the 100mg/mL unflavored nic base in either 100% VG or 100% PG, or in various different ratios of PG and VG. Then it's diluted with more plain PG, VG, and flavorings to DIY eliquids.

The reason is to enjoy the flavors!
"Unflavored" does have a little flavor - as the base ingredient VG tends to be a little sweet.
Many people will vape just a blend of VG and a little PG with some nic.

A good vendor for this - since you said you don't want to concoct (though it is EASY to start with concentrated nicotine base and just dilute with PG and VG yourself) would be here - Nude Nicotine. Good quality and you can order whatever strength you want, and what blend of PG/VG you want.

I have been toying with the idea of mixing up some unflavored for a while but I just think what is the sense in it because I don't think I would enjoy it. Although some make me think I should try it but in my mind I have an image of plain water and a bottle of flavored water.

You really should try it at least once and try not to have a preconceived notion about it. You might be surprised. For me the sensations produced by unflavored (throat hit, vapor feeling in the lungs etc.) are plenty enough for long term enjoyment without enveloping myself and my taste buds in a cloud of foreign obtrusiveness. These days when I do try a flavored eliquid it's yuck. Don't miss flavorings a bit.

Another benefit is stealth. Why just yesterday I stealth vaped at will through a crowded showing of Rogue 1 in comfort and happiness. The other patrons were happy too.

Well vaping inside is looked upon like smoking which is against the law and depending on where you happen to live vaping in a public building is also prohibited. You are lucky with 3 warnings the last one wasn't the last one.

That's why I smoke in the back office, it is not in front of customers or anything.

Throat hit. And when I find a mix that has light flavor but good throat hit, I consider that a success. Many complain that DIY is harsher than premixed juices, again I'm starting to consider that a good thing. I find it a bit weird some vapers start off with high flavor and nic, complaining of excess throat hit, and end up with unflavored and low nic. It would make more sense to start off with high nic unflavored and increase flavor as nic is dropped.

Actually to me vaping unflavored reminds me more of a cigarette than most flavored juices even the quote tobacco flavors. Except for NETs!
