I am not a sweet vape person either. RY4 is to sweet for me. Fruits were a phase and I hate them for the most part... Well other then apple/tobac flavors.
For a dry/non-sweet tobac taste I like Backwoods Brew 555 and Tobac (though I find BWB hard on my atomizers, so use it on my rebuildables), also really like BlueMistVaping Robacco a lot (plus it is inexpensive). The flavors at Liberty Flights have a description and most are pretty good. Stay away from their turbosmog though, it is disgusting and doesn't match the description. However, their highway (little peanut brittle taste to it), tobac, luxury blend, USA and flue cured is pretty good for a non-sweet taste. I also used to vape Dekang 555 - A LOT - it's sort of nutty tasting though. Nothing like the 555 smokes I bought to compare. Also like Decadent Vapors tobac flavors (little expensive). Of course DIY is an alternative, but I find it painful, just not my thing, though I will build hardware, making my own liquid is not fun for me. I think it's cause I can't get the flavors I want.
Everything you try will not be a Marlboro, Kent, or camel. It will have a unique taste and will require some adjusting and acclimation. Kind of like drinking scotch or a good beer, it's an acclimated taste. Also, if you are just switching, you may not even taste some of the liquids until they have been used in your atomizer for a while... just saying.
