Seeing that Annette is now offering eggnog (that I MUST try), I have a question that I've wondered about for a long time. Why is eggnog only available this time of year? I realize it wouldn't be my first beverage choice on a hot summer day, but I do love the stuff! I know you can buy eggs all year long, so does that mean that nog is seasonal? What is nog anyway? I checked several recipes online and don't see anything special in the ingredients, like "use only fresh picked winter nogberries", or "warning: do not mix if more than 8 daylight hours" or anything. seriously, I love my quad shot eggnog latte from (insert your favorite coffee vendor name here), wish I could have it from time to time all year long!

Guess I better go place another order, maybe get some espresso juice to mix with it. (and before you say it kittypie, yes, I already have some KCM to try a mix with). Geez, I'm still waiting for my last order to arrive!

(I understand why fruitcake is seasonal, it's the only time of year that you can give it to someone and they have to say thank you :p )

I love egg nog! The best I have ever had is Publix brand (local grocery chain through out the south east I think). They start putting it out around the end of Oct. and it's gone shortly after New Years. They also do it as a holiday edition ice cream, yumm. I can't drink a ton of it at once, too heavy and if it were available all year round, it wouldn't be such a special treat to me lol. I don't drink milk, never did, so on Christmas eve my kids would have to leave Santa a glass of egg nog with his cookies.
I can't wait to try out Annette's Egg nog juice!

Cracking up over the 'McRib sandwich', Dotma!

Well, in her naming contest, I suggested regular old 'non seasonal' names as well as christmas names because I'm hoping Annette keeps some of those options around! ;) I think i suggested 'Brooklyn's Best Egg Cream' for the regular name for EggNog, since those flavors are so similar, just with more thickness w eggcream. Crossing fingers! ;)

Living in Kentucky, Eggnog + Bourbon is my absolute favorite part of the holidays.

My aunt makes big gallon jugs of it for everyone in the family that's over 21.

Mmm...eggnog + makers mark = win!

You know, as a Virginian, of course the only possible "nog" for egg nog was bourbon. However, now living in the middle of the continent, I regularly celebrate most holidays with these transplanted Texans who use -- wait for it -- RUM!! (Sacrilege!)

And you know what? I hate to say it, but it's actually better that way.

We love eggnog at our house, too! My son goes crazy over it. I have to add half milk to mine because it's too sweet for me, otherwise. And OMG, if it were around all year? I'd weigh 100 lbs more than I do. LOL

I didn't know that Annette was offering Eggnog liquid on her site! I'll have to check it out!

+100 for that. I'm happy it's only seasonal.
