On my Evod, if I hold the button down for too long it will start blinking telling me to stop vaping. I was just wondering why. Will the battery fry out or something if it is overused?
Most likely to keep the wick from charring and/or the battery from being overtaxed. My manual battery doesn't have an auto-timer, but my automatic will stop functioning and start flashing if I exceed a certain period of time of steady inhalation.
I think it's mostly there for when it's in your pocket or such. if something pushes the button for so long, it assumes it's not you and shuts off to prevent drainage and burning.

I had a battery vent in thermal runaway when the switch became stuck in my mechanical mod. Mechanical mods have no built-in safety features. This caused the battery to rapidly discharge to the point where it over heated and failed. So yes, the auto cutoff is a safety feature. Be glad that your device has this feature.
10 seconds on most PVs for safety shutoff. It keeps you from blowing up, and it helps protect your coil if you quickly put it in your pocket without turning it off.
