Flavor: A properly set up SS mesh wick will give you pure flavor, cotton or bamboo imparts an "off taste" imo.
Dry burning: A properly set up SS mesh wick will allow you to dry burn your coils in order for you to adjust or fine tune them, and also to clean them if they start to cake. Any kind of cloth wick prohibits you from doing so.

So bottom line it improves taste, and adds functionality not otherwise available to you.

I've wondered about that, as well. Could someone post a pic? I have no idea what these "mesh wicks" look like. And, are they usable on only certain tanks?

Pics won't really help. I would suggest a YouTube video.

Scott explains how to make a SS wick in this video, though he is also reviewing a product:

I didn't have much luck with a ss mesh wick in my did clone (vulcan). I didn't like the flavor... kinda metallicy and I probably didn't have it set up right. I've been using cotton and really like it but I'm having to change out coil and wick every day or two. I'm about ready to try the mesh again. I love the flavor cotton gives when it's working but it doesn't last. I can set up a new coil and wick in less than 5 minutes but I'd like something that lasts longer. Even though I practically vape it upside down, I guess I keep upping the voltage too much and burning the wick.
And yes, it's not a very portable setup but it's perfect for evenings in the recliner :D

ALSO, last but definitely NOT least, all Z-atty stuff mesh wick systems etc will LEAK if you tilt them long time or leave horizontal, period. That is the only flaw which makes me sad cuz they are unusable when outside.

Yes they can leak when horizontal. That's why it is so convenient that it sits so nicely in my front or back pocket vertically. Unusable outside? I only use it outside, I use my IGO-L SS wicked at home.

Did I have to learn to adjust? Yes. It really isn't hard, though you probably won't find a how to video on youtube for instructions.

i tiake my geni everywhere in the car i have a perfect spot for it, at work i can stand my mod no problem in my work area, when out the prov with geni slides perfectly in the pocket. if i really need to lay it down a lot i will slap on the shperiod, but other than that i take mine everywhere with no problems, remember they CAN leak - not WILL leak.
