I believe it's a he and certainly a troll. One hopes he gets the message and goes away.
Must say love your signature. Commadore 64. I had one, yes I did.
You probably just need harder batts...
LOLz, Jim
It's not an optical connection. The cable used is a serial cable. The pin on the end that screws into the bottom of the P3 makes contact with the battery connection on the board. The battery connection doubles as a data port.Perhaps what you have failed to notice is the two black bumps on the updater. They in-turn (my opinion here) update the P3 with pulses of light.
There are other ways of protecting IP than having to resort to a separate programming module. It doesn't matter what you all say, having to send your P3 to a certified dealer or Provape themselves to have the firmware updated is ......ed. Also, think of it this way. The tube and board are just a license to use the firmware. You have paid over $200 to use Provape's firmware, that's more than a Windows license. You never actually own the whole mod.Bottomline ProVape values their intellectual property, and want to protect it from bootleggers that would hack it and make their product unsafe.

On a serious note, I wonder how many P3's Provape has sold outside the US?
Who doesn't love a ProVape hate thread?
Usually ProVape sells a few devices via one of these threads ... however, this one seems weak.

No "shoot", Sherlock! Hey, I've got an idea! Why not start a private conversation with yourself!![]()
On a serious note, I wonder how many P3's Provape has sold outside the US? I can imagine not being able to update it yourself has been a deciding factor to not buy it for people in other parts of the world. I don't think there are a lot of overseas dealers with a ProVari programmer and sending it to Provape just to have it updated will simply be too expensive if you don't live in the US.
I can confirm just one![]()
