Hi Andy Chow 130! Welcome to ECF! We're glad to have you.

Yes, 200W+ is a lot of power and most people will never use it. Heck, I have a 200W Temperature Control mod but I barely ever break 50W. However, there are people out there who do double-twisted-triple-braided-dragon-clapton-zipper coils that are so giant that they need the power just to heat up.

I have one that can go to 150w for the same reason I have a motorcycle capable of going 150+. I don't really ever plan on taking it that far, but it sure is nice to know I have the ability to when I really get the urge to. Typically, the most my 150w mod ever sees is about 75 watts(and it is running a subtank mini more often than anything, and I only run that at 25w).

do those really crazy coil builds improve the vape??

Some of them most certainly do.
Also as Cullin said, many really complex builds that drop close to 0.1Ω require a lot more power to heat up quickly. I have a Sigelei 150 that I turn up to 150 watts regularly for crazy builds. But for most people its unnecessary.

Hi guys,

The power is enough to vape when handing boxes from 30W to 100W. Why the crazy boxes are coming over 200w? It is not safe, most of the vape lovers will ingore it, I think so.

Thicker wire needs more watts per ohm to warm up.

In the case of temperature control mods, high power is especially important because when the coil is cold, the mod will want to put as much power available just to get it up to temperature, then drop to a lower wattage just enough to keep the coil at the right temperature.

Yeah I can't really condone/understand things like the 260W God Mod by SMY. 260W is excessive to any coil, I don't care what wire or what ohms -- I doubt your wick can deliver juice to your coils in enough time that you won't end up with some dry hits/burny tasty.

I use a Sig150 most days, I've never even cranked it to 150W. Usually have it set to 60-ish, but when I wanna bump it up I'll put it at 70 or even 80. Beyond that it's hot and uncomfortable. Like you can actually feel the heat hit your throat before the vapor does. I hate that.

Aye.. I have a sigeli 100, and getting over 30 is uncomfortable for me. Of course I'm not one of those double reverse clapton dragon power-ranger double sided thundercat's zipper down twisted thunderbirds are go type coil maker. Micro coils are about as exotic as I get.

You can find people who think bigger is better for every possible kind of goods.
128 oz soft drink (bad)
3 pound steak (mmm...)
160 proof rum (O!)
250 W mod (bad)

Just my humble opinion.

The biggest choking point IMO in the vape game is battery life. We need smaller, more powerful batteries so we have more time on one charge. So.....

For now, to achieve this we need 2 to 4 18650 batteries, which makes a mod huge. What better way to glaze over that than to pitch "it's 250 watts also". It just makes sense to make the Fries and the Softdrink super sized.

All i know is that with 100, 150 watts the draw is very short, as opposed to a long draw on a lot less watts. I suppose it depends on how you want to vape. Sometimes i cannot be bothered to take long draws so i'll crank up the watts real high and take real short draws. The results are the same. I think with any power setting if the user keeps their finger on the trigger for too long it burns the liquid. Usually i vape at 45-50 watts for maybe 3-4 seconds then release, any longer and the juice burns. It's just a case of knowing when to release the trigger and in the highest wattage range it's the exact same deal, so maybe a second, if that !.

Watts doesn't necessarily equal heat. Large coil builds that use a LOT of metal require a huge wattage just to heat up at all.
