I've been using nickel for a while before my ipv4 got the titanium upgrade and everyone seemed to be using ~26-28 ga nickel wire. Now with titanium everyone seems to be using massively larger like 20-22 ga wire. Why is this the trend with titanium wire?

Ti has more resistance than Nickel wire. You have to use small nickel wire to have enough ohms to fire.
No Idea. My TC mod doesn't have Ti software. But @SomeTexan sounds like he has the right of it.
you'd only get 4 warps(per coil) of 28 Ti for a .1Ω build using dual coils...not much surface area
I don't think the Ti has that necessary "sweet spot" of the .1 to .15Ω does it? Most people i read running the 20 or 22g Ti wires are running it at like .3Ω or so.
I don't think it is a "sweet spot" for nickel, so much as a "that's all the wire I can fit" spot. Lol, resistance wire vs non-resistance wire.

If you get Ti wire on Amazon from a wire manufacturer, Grade 1 seems to come either .50mm, 1.0mm etc. Since .50mm is pretty close to 24g, it seems like a good medium. At $12 for 50 ft, I'll be using it for a while.
I use 26 ga Ti wrapped on a 2.38mm (3/32") Bit which spring-enlarges to about 2.6mm due to the nature of partially annealed Grade-1 wire, 6 Wrap single Coil yields right at 0.22-0.23 ohm.
IMO, pretty "Sweet" TC performance indeed in an Erl Konigin loaded to a SX Mini M.
Gauge chosen (and appropriate) is more determined by the Target Resistance and whether a single or dual Coil Setup than it is the Primary Determinate of the Build Equation.
Choose your Atty and Target Resistance for the Device Design and Attributes then that will dictate the Gauge Ti appropriate for the Combo.
Also, proven Source for Grade 1 Ti in most Gauges is the Seller "Unkamen" on Etsy.

OK thanks for the info, just as it is with all the other wire, everything is gonna vary from person to person and atty to atty. I was referred to that Unkamen seller and that's where my current Ti is coming from. Nice to know other people are using it from there as well.
Yeppers, Awesome Seller with great Service and proven Grade-1 partially annealed Ti.
Many using it for a long time. I got the Hook-Up on them from some of the original Ti vaping Senseis and figured if they were using it successfully and happily, had to be the Real Deal and more than safe to use.
