So I work in retail management & I usually escape the cold bug for most of the season but it always seems to get me in the end! Woke up in the middle of the night with a itchy throat! I should've guessed it then! Went back to bed & woke up this morning with sore throat, cough & congestion. I can barely taste my vape!! This sucks! Just ran to CVS for some meds! Please let this be over with soon!!:grr:

Do you continue to vape when you have a cold?

Can't say for sure. I can't remember having a cold since I started vaping. I'm sure the vapor's good for getting the excess congestion cleared out, what with it being a humectant and all.

As sweet Adeline said, menthol soothes. If you exhale menthol vapor trhough your nose, I'd imagine you can bank on your sinuses opening some for better breathing, too!

Yep!

If you can't taste anything, it's the perfect time to vape the stuff you don't really like.

But menthol feels REALLY good on a dry/sore/itchy throat!!

I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Adeline! I've got some left over menthol I haven't used since I first started vaping. Ill go break it out & give it a try!

I will say I don't really get sick like I used to. When I started smoking in college, I used to get really bad sinus infections every winter/spring. At least one a year, and one year I got FOUR. FOUR sinus infections.

No sinus infections (I think!) since I quit smoking.

Also, most of us women are vitamin d deficient (myself included). I have to take a supplement to keep up my levels. But when my vit d levels are in the good/healthy range, I don't get sick. And if I do, I'm over it in a day or two, while other people are out with the same thing for 7-10 days.

I actually came down with a cold about a day or two after I first vaped. I kinda knew it was coming and this was before i knew about all the flavors and various devices. I was using gas station cig-a-likes. About three days into this I was completely off analogs and a week and a half or so later the cold was gone and I started into the more "advanced" world of vaping. So I'm thinking perhaps it was like a blessing in disguise.

I hate sinus infections!! With a passion! I haven't had any in a while either but they are a pain! It's funny you said something about vitamin D because I grabbed some earlier while I was at the pharmacy. My doctor was getting on me about my levels a while ago so I started taking some extras along with my multi vitamin. But I failed to buy more after I ran out. I'm so hard headed!!

I'm really bad about taking my vitamins every day.

My D levels were extremely low in August. They put me on a mega-supplement for 12 weeks, and my levels looked great!

I stopped taking my multivitamin and my extra vitamin D though. And they did a sneaky vitamin d test while I was getting my thyroid levels tested (I'm hypothyroid). It was right back to where I started! I asked her if we could skip the mega doses and I could just supplement. She agreed and so far I've been taking my multi and my vitamin d every day. Here's hoping it brings my levels up enough!

D helps with energy levels as well as your immune function. I know it's important for those reasons as well as long term reasons (bone density, preventing cancer, etc).. I just need to REMEMBER to take it every day.

And yes, I have those pill boxes with days of the week on them. I swear it helps me take them regularly. :p

Oh no! Feel better fast Chimney! If I lived close I would bring you this amazing chicken soup from Weiss deli here. And agreed with adeline now is a great time to vape the not so yummy juices.:grr:

Thanks SuzyQ! Just broke out some menthol from the stash! That sounds good!! Love chicken noodle soup! Fortunately my mom always makes soup several times a year & since I live about 3 hours away from my home town she always packs me some away & freezes it for me! I took some out of the freezer earlier! Should be thawed in a lil bit! Love my mommy & her soups!!

They did the same thing to me! I had the take the mega dose for 6 weeks I think with a prescription based vitamin D. Then I went back to have my levels checked and I had to take the OTC to keep them up. I hate taking vitamins! I have one of the ugly containers with days, morning & evening etc...it does help! Hope your levels are back up!!

Aww... I'm so glad! Nothing better than mom's homemade soup! ( they got all that extra love no restaurant soup could ever touch! ) eat soup , stay very hydrated, do lots of resting and you'll be back to your ole self in no time.
