If you haven't ordered any yet, I have some 36awg kanthal D I would just send to you....
However- I get an off taste when using it that just won't go away, even after days of use. Don't know if it's just me.
Annealing the wire seems to make no difference I can tell..
It's a different taste than the one you get with a new coil sometimes, almost petroleum-like to me.
Never got this particular flava with 36 nichrome or 32 kanthal A-1, the two types I use depending on ohms desired..

Oh man I really appreciate the gesture but I already ordered 100ft :( It was only around 5$ anyway..but bynthe sounds of it I'm hoping your batch is different than mine..lol, I will keep that in mind and heat up the piece before wrapping a possible burn off whatever is used to treat the wire...all the Kanthal has to be made from the same material but maybe its just what they use when treating it to get down that small in diameter..idk just a guess

Dang, if only I saw your post a little sooner:laugh: Ah well, as you said, 5 bucks, no biggie.
Oh, I found this post recently-http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/atomizer-mods/320042-resistance-wire-kanthal-nichrome.html#post6840057
It states that the only difference between the kanthal grades is the percentage of aluminum, with the D having less than A1 and perhaps more or less of a chromium content..
Interesting info though, but even more puzzled about that taste now. I did buy it over a year ago, maybe just a bad batch, maybe I was getting over a cold or something, gotta try it again now!

Your guess sounds very plausible too..
