Wick burned

built a 1.6ohm coil using 32g on a 1.5 mandrel using cotton. Worked really well. Changed the wick for a different juice. After 1/2 tank on a KFL+ clone started getting a burnt taste plus a rather big pop. Took it apart and the wick was burnt in two. Is my wick too thick or what?

That's pretty thin wire and a tight coil. I'm guessing the wick was strangled. Maybe if you use a 2.0 you will have better luck. 2.0 and even 2.4 are my favorites with no wicking issues on .8ohm coils.

The wick should be able to freely slide back and forth inside the coil. If not, it's too thick.

Yes it was. The vapor dropped substantially. Guess I'll try another smaller diameter cotton wick.

That is what throws me. The wick moved easily thru the coil. Bummer!!
