I have seen where if you test the coil for impedance and haven't wet the cotton it will burn , make sure the cotton has juice before testing the coil other than that maybe the cotton was dry in some place and burned due to low juice? I have yet to use this cotton for wicking but will be trying it out this week for sure..
A mod may put some current through a coil when checking for resistance but is it enough to actually burn the cotton with no juice? Never checked that out on the Provari. The 'Vari is the only device I have that I know for certain fires the atty when checking Ω. I can say however with certainty that burned cotton tastes lousy!! :p
