What is every one using for wicks lately? I have been using the same build and cotton bacon for months. That build is really awesome on my rm2 but not so much on my new cyclone. I have changed up the coil a bit and now I'm looking to change up my cotton. So what does every one like and why?

A lot of people like Koh Gen Do. I'm perfectly happy with Rayon
I like and used KGD for a long while but a few months back checked out and switched to Cello (Rayon) and have been using it soley since. One of the things I like about it is that I don't have to change my wick as frequently with one of my atty. eating juices. One juice I really like is very dark (clove) and when I used cotton I was needing to change it every 3-6 mls. I probably could have gone longer but I'm all about clarity of taste and nuances. With the cello, I go at least 12 mls! (Now with my lighter color flavors, I don't change mine nearly as frequently and with cello, even less so.
The taste is the same to me. I did find that I needed to really pack my coil chock full of cello as opposed to just "sliding" in the KGD with no resistance.
I'm a single coiler. Running 1.2 to 1.4.

For months, I've experimented with KGD, CelluCotton (Rayon), and RxW 3mm in a 3/32drill bit coil @ 1.1 ohm. Find myself using CelluCotton more because flavor is sharper, taste is richer, and Nic hit is harder.
I like RxW as well, but the juices I use requires frequent coil changing and that defeats the pupose of using RxW. So, I'll just stay with CelluCotton. Got a 20 year supply of it anyway.

I'm about 50/50 between KGD and rayon. I find the rayon wicks better, so for some applications (particular coils in particular atties) it's needed. Perhaps it's just a matter of experience, but I find I'm better able to manage the KGD (getting the right amount, consistency between wicks, detecting/predicting the need for replacement, gauging saturation when vaping).
I've tried RxW and it just wasn't for me. It limits building options and I just never got the hang of maintenance.
I've tried bamboo, silica, and mesh - all more inconvenient than KGD or rayon without any perceptible performance benefit. Mr puffer above is the model of consistency (you should read his thread on his regime), while I'm a restless vaper who likes the flexibility of the "make any size" materials while I experiment.

RxW3 gets top billing here, but I still use KGD in a lot of my atty's. CC wicks way faster than them, but that's not needed with a Reo, and my long lungs hits burn it in half in short order if I don't constantly squonk.
CCr for me. Every once in a while, I have gone back thru the various cottons I have, but end up staying with the CCr. For me taste is better with CCr, and it lasts longer.
So I found some "organic Japanese" cotton in the box my subtank came in. Wicked some of that up in the cyclone and its a good improvement over the cotton bacon. Maybe I should try some kgd, or is that the same thing as this random organic Japanese stuff?

Count me as one of the RXW folks. I love the stuff. Tried cotton and Bamboo Found the RXW and the rest is .....
Exactly all the same but vaping @0.8 with x-wick ...I vape only unflavored, at 1.5-1.8 ohms, so I go literally months without changing my silica wicks. They last every bit as long as the coil, so I build a coil and vape it 3 or 4 months, then build a new one. Even at that, I only build new ones to stay in practice
I use kgd. It works great for me. I haven't been rebuilding long and haven't tried anything but cotton balls and kgd.
There may be better materials out there but I haven't felt the need to explore.

Readyxwick 3mm is by far my favorite, but only ever tried CVS sterile cotton, Eko wool and silica.

Another thing I like about cello, is that it's more forgiving with an ocassional dry hit than KGD is for me at least.
Say, in my post, I referred to Cello Cotton as "rayon". (Just trying to be a smarty pants, but I'm not actually sure). Is rayon, and silica for that matter just interchangeable words for cello cotton? Thanks wise one.

Settled on Rayon but the BIG box takes up a lot of room. I like that I can pull a tight wad of it through the coil and not worry about it expanding and choking the flow of juice.

RxW here as well.... Haven't used anything else in almost 1 1/2 yrs... No brainer actually. Dry burn once a week and I still have no idea as to how long it will actually last. I tend to get bored with some builds in or around the 3-4 month mark. I am sure it would last at least 6 months or maybe longer....
The type of juice you will dramatically affect the coil and overall performance. If you have to change coils more often (I usually do cause weird looking dark, black wire from repeated dry burning freaks me out), then KGD, or CC would be of more practical use as you change the coil. If you're using a juice that doesn't gunk the coil, and every day dry burning... then RxW would definitely fit the bill. Wish I could use it, but in my case.... it isn't worth the extra cost.
Every juice I've tried seems to clog the coil after 4-6 ml. Just wish folks would make flavored juice that will not clog coils, but that's the nature of the beast. Adding sugars, and artificial flavorings always results in caramelized wire as the coil heats and cools down.
