All right I might try that ceramic wick. Why does it have to be kiln treated where silica doesn't? I know it seems like I'm asking a lot of questions, but I'm curious for my health as well the health of others.

I means I have to stand and watch to see that it's kiln treated, not rely on somebody else's sayso.

Well, if they've branded it as something that has been properly treated, and they show you a way to detect if it has been treated or not, you can probably trust them. I choose to trust that my KGD cotton hasn't been treated with any chemicals, but I don't really know for sure.
