I'm still a rookie at all this, so be gentle please...

I have noticed, or think I have, comments about removing the wicks and vaping on a naked coil. Is that right? I ask more from curiosity than a plan to do so.

I am pretty much strictly an evod user, though I have an iclear 16b and and ismoka, all bcc clearos. It seems to me that no wick in one of these would cause the coil to flood. Just asking.

I also notice that some folks replace stock wicks with cotton. Is that some special cotton? Or is it twisted strands from cotton balls?

Gotta say that stinkies are not so complicated, but they are not as much fun. :vapor:

Thanks everybody, in advance.

Not going to work.. How is the juice going to the coil?

Yes it will flood if it's bottom coil..

Cotton... Organic (boiled to remove contaminants) ... Could also use the sterile cotton.

You can't remove the wick. However, what they were probably removing was the extra wick which is known as the flavor wick... It's not the wick that sits inside the coil, but sets atop the whole area on the housing top... It just prevents extra liquid from spewing in your mouth and helps add a tad more of flavor.

I rebuild my coils. One night I couldn't figure out why the one I was using wasn't producing anything, so I took it apart. Somehow forgot to wick it, tired I guess. Yep, it'll flood. No vapor production.

I use sterile cotton balls, a teeny amount on my protanks, evods, Aro 2. I also use Sugar and Cream yarn that I got from Hobby Lobby. Depends on what I've used to rebuild the coil as to how much yarn I use.

I have read about wickless setups on another forum. Can't find the thread now. I don't think it was that great, but it worked. Was done in a RDA with a pretty funky coil. If I find it later I'll add a link.

I have personally seen the wick in the coil removed and replace with cotton in a couple of minutes. It will remove quite easily when wet with juice or from soaking in vodka. Just pulled one out a few minutes ago. :D

Another newb here so bare with me....but aren't bridgeless atties wickless? Please don't slam the newb

No. In a bridgeless atty the metal mesh bridge is removed that would be used to transfer liquid from an older style cartridge into the atty. But the coil itself in a bridgeless atty still has a wick running through it. In a bridgeless atty you can actually see the coil construction with the wick in place.
