I have been looking around, and it seems ecigs are essentially not straight up harmful. most thing I've heard about them being bad are just speculations.... Then I ran across something, the wicks used in the ecigs..... arent you inhaling them? could someone explain this to me, cus as of right now, this seems extremely foolish and stupid to be purposely inhaling fiber glass and stuff - I know im extremely ignorant, but this seems to be the alkalies heal to the "ecig being a safe alternative" thing.... am I right here or do I need to be educated

The wick serves only to draw the e-liquid from the reservoir to the coil through capillary action. The heat from the coil then vaporizes the e-liquid. Wicks in e-cigarettes are made from heat-resistant material- they do not burn in normal operation like a candle wick does. They can burn if they are run dry though, which is a situation that you want to avoid- they taste very unpleasant.

Cotton. And don't believe the media hype, rather thoroughly research it yourself. You'll find a veritable wealth of information here and then be able to draw your own conclusion. And that's NOT an ignorant question. No questions are ignorant. Welcome to the forum, you'll be very happy you came!

The wicking material, whether it is silica (figerglass), cotton, hemp, ceramic or stainless, is soaked in liquid that the coil heats up to create vapor. As the wick is wet, it is not getting inhaled, only the vapor from the heated liquid.

If you are currently a smoker, I can say from my experience that you will get almost immediate improvement in your health by moving to ecigs. Although they are not as safe as breathing fresh air, they have not been shown to cause harm in many studies and the actual experience of millions of ecig users. Good luck!
