Possibly a self tapping sheet metal screw but you'd have to put it in a vise and be real careful you don't slip and cut yourself. I've used an awl before but it didn't work very well.

Your best bet would be to spring for a carto-punch. You can find them here and there at various shops (Phiniac is one I can think of off hand). Some folks have had success with a plumber's punch which you can get at any hardware store but I've never tried one.

All the above suggestions can work. It also depends what equipment you have 'around the house'. I have a drill press in the garage that works wonders, but most people don't have that. The Dremel works well making a slot. A carto punch is what I use to make holes in my no-hole cartos. I have heard people use a small nail and hammer it appropriately into the carto. With all these YMMV.

I would not try a hand drill. I would try the nail and hammer, but I am quite handy and would not hurt myself doing this. Whatever you try, go slow and be careful.

Thanks all. I think I'm going to try the dremel route, although I could probably use a carto punch.

Will those Boges be an issue without the flange?

Nope...you just have to be a little more careful not to slide the carto too far (I have...on occasion...dumped an entire tank of juice into my lap).
