You never told us if she smokes regulars or menthol. I can tell you, menthols are THE hardest to let go of! I found a new juice (for now) that got me down to 1 or 2 a day. (yay!). USA Made Vapor Renu and it's called Honey Wood Menthol. It's different and very yummy. I know taste is subjective, and I learned that from ordering sooooooooooo many juices that people have said they loved, but I just hated them. I wish your wife lots of luck and determination, because I know how hard this is, both mentally AND physically. Congrats to YOU! I envy you quitting those nasty things so easily.

It was my last "take that, society and shove it" stronghold from the person I used to be. Yes, I am addicted to nicotine and to the physical pleasure that smoking brings me. But I was also caught-up in the headgame of the addiction, itself. It was the last part of the "old" me and I didn't want to let it go. Even though I knew the analogs were killing me, it was MINE.

LOL. I could have written this, and I found it out when I quit smoking the old fashioned way (the one that didn't take). I do respectable all day long, sitting in meetings, following the rules, doing everything I'm supposed to, when I'm supposed to, the way I'm supposed to. Smoking was my proudly raised middle finger to convention - the only one I had left. vaping still lets me wave that finger, without killing myself in the process. And I get to be a tech geek at the same time - it's the best of all possible solutions.

This is how I know she feels. She smokes Marlboro reds 100 can't stand menthol. So all I can do is keep plenty around so she will have them. And she's goin to try again Monday. I'm thrilled about that thanks everyone for your input power of mind control VIA forum LOL. :p

Ok as I am a control freak wife too :). I have to tell you, I tried vaping about a year ago and it didn't work for me. My dear hubby let it go, and right before my birthday this year he gave me a number for a place he heard on the radio that had a deal on carts for my former brand. although, the number was from a rip off place, it was the push I needed to investigate the options out there now for myself (yet again). This time I have taken the time to figure out it didn't work for me because I am sensitive to pg...(I cough up a lung at each drag). I have spent the money to find the juice that I can tolerate, if not a little too sweet, and I'm experimenting with two different devices an KR808D-1 and and EGO both with cartomizers. The common theme I see is Cigarettes have been the only thing I have control over and he get's this, he let it go until the time was right for me even if he hated the smell of cigarette smoke...LOL I admit it I'm a rebel, with responsiblities and the smoking gave me my outlet for rebellion... Although I have not perfected my setup yet, I am down from 3 packs a day to under 1. It sounds like your wife needs to make the decision for herself. As many have said on here. It may be the rattle in her chest when she's 40 (um yeah that would be me...LOL), or watching an old man struggle for breath as he digs out his cigarettes that is the trigger for her. Everyone is different, and each of us have our own trigger!

Good luck, happy new year, and happy vaping!

Happy new year to everyone. I know she won't be ready till she is ready. That's why I don't try to push the whole thing. I'm the one who needed it I've hacked and coughed for over 18 years. I started coughing when I was 19 or 20 till last year when I quit. And it was like the coughing almost instantly went away. Her lungs seem good but now mine feel great. I want her to experience it but I don't want to scare her away from it. I'm not trying to push it on her. I don't mind the smell of the cigarettes. I started when I was 13 after smoking 26 years of my life I can't say anything. I just needed ideas on what flavors to try and some about pv's.

What r you sorry for? You didn't say anything out of the way. You prob understand more. From the beginning of your post you are probably like her a lot, not a bad thing somebody us men need that in our life. Your husband is probably a mellow man like me. I will prob try the pv that you are talking about. I appreciate your input.

Hi and Happy New Year,
I have been vaping now for around 3 months and from the start I knew it was for me, never had a analog after my 1st vape. My wife on the other hand hasn't really taken to vaping (she is a pack a day Merit smoker, just like I was). She says what she doen't like is the sweetness of juices, but she also doesn't like the harshness of strong tobacco juices either.
Right now she is trying a mix of unflavored VG w/a little AVE C&D mixed in, but is not really liking it too much. The other day while I was reading one of Dr. Vapenstein's reviews I had a brainstorm; why not try Ecopure Regular for her. I am hoping this might be the ticket. Ecopure doesn't have a strong flavor, but it does a good job off simulating (or so I have read) the throat hit and general experience of smoking. My wife always says that the flavors of juices make her a little nauseated, so I am hoping the "clean, fresh"" taste of Ecopure might be somehing she can get into.
I should be getting the juice in next week and, if she likes it, I will report back on it. I really hope I can get her onto vaping, it really has made a big difference in my life. Although being able to actually taste my food again has caused me to put on a few pounds lol.

I like tasting my food that's awesome isn't it. I've really enjoyed being able to breath again. The two put together is the best. I didn't realise how bad either was till I started vaping. I knew as soon as I started I wasn't goin to smoke. I don't know why I smoked one every once in a while when I started. The analog cigs tasted nasty immediately then I would try a couple of drags every couple of days to see if they still tasted bad. They did, no change so I put them down. LOL

Thanks Tim,

I have to say I like the auto battery for the KR808D-1 the best most days, but I would try an auto and a manual and see if she makes the leap. My daughter (6yo) even bought me special "ashtrays" for mine so I don't loose them all over the house. :) It feels like a cig and it makes the transition a little easier...The clincher for me was taking it to our local bar. I was able to stay inside with hubby instead of outside in 5 degree's smoking...and we made a ton of new friends because everyone kept asking about my pv... LOL

Just my 2 cents here but maybe just "buy" her several different tobacco flavors, so it isn't so foreign as to what she is used to! Nothing is exactly like a marlboro but some do mimic it pretty well ! Something that makes her feel this isn't such a huge change, I can do it with this! After she gets control of her habit she can branch out and experiment when she's ready! Sounds like you have a variety of flavors around when she is ready! So much change at once is hard! I still don't like hardly any of the "flavors"! It sounds like I am in the minority on that but everyone is different but if she's anything like me that may help you!
Good Luck to you Both!!

Just a suggestion. Pure Cig from Freedom Smoke USA...It's not a strong tobacco flavor but it has both decent vapor and TH. I tried to figure it out when I got it. You'll laugh but to me it kind of tastes like celery with black pepper on it. No really strong flavors and not sweet. Right now, they're having a 35% off sale on pre-mixed juices. The coupon code for the sale is newyear.

good luck Tim and to your wife, we just talked about this last night. quitting is SO hard as we all know, and on that note it's hard for some to just go to strictly vaping. when she's ready she will..hopefully sooner than later!

nice, this is helpful as i can't find a juice my mother in law likes as she smokes menthol, but doesn't like the menthol juices lol.

Unfortunately the OP's spouses taste buds aren't working yet. I had the same problem but I wanted to quit. After 3 days of struggling, no stinkies, I could finally start tasting the yummy flavors. Tell her to give it a try and totally leave the cigs alone. If she can go that long, she'll find out that they taste good and hopefully won't want to quit. Don't beg her. Please remember that it's her choice to make. You can only lead a horse to water.....Good luck.

One thing about quitting....it doesn't matter what method you use, if you don't want to stop smoking you won't. Not even a PV can fix that. There are a lot of very tasty flavors out there....even though taste is highly subjective my thought is that if your wife really wanted to quit she would find something she likes. You indicated she likes a certain coffee flavor but still won't vape it. That, i'm sad to say, indicates a lack of interest in quitting. Remember one thing when trying to convert your friends and loved ones....we are still on the cutting edge of a pretty new technology, its gonna be a pretty tough sell to some people, no matter how much evidence you have that its a better choice.

EDIT: totally missed your last post....glad you found something that works for her! Good on both of you, welcome to ECF and heres wishing your continued success.

I believe she does want to quit. Just not bad enough yet. But I believe that she will cut back then quit as long as I keep being a good example. When she was trying she had cut way back. I just needed to figure out more flavors or what I needed to do to tweak the flavors so she had more than coffee flavors. She seems to be thrilled cause she wanted banana and watermelon they were to weak, she said something didn't taste right. After I added sweetener she loved them. It made the flavor stronger and of course sweeter.
