Have a question.. My wife said for the last month or so(and i am vaping about 7 weeks) it seems i have put on a few pounds. Could this be from vaping? How much sugar is in the sweet flavors? Its really no biggee been married for 37 years but i myself now want to know. Since i am vaping it seems i am eating less and i sure feel better cause i went from 1 1/2 pks a day down to 2 to 3 a day. So please let me know. If i was 25 or 35 i wouldnt think i would gain any cause i would work or excerise it off but i am 59 now and a bit slower. Thanks for any info. If this is true i will have to get off the sweet flavors and stick with just tobacco and i sure do love the sweet fruity flavors more than the tobacco. She is just concerned because of my cholesterol level and my knees are really bad. so if you have bad knees if you keep your weight down it makes it a lot easier than being overweight. Thanks again

Wow, that's wild, I have lost over 40 lbs since I started vaping, still need to loose a ton more, but, have been working too damn much. Start walking, my friend, half mile, 2 tomes a day, and build up. You seen my pic, and I am 50. I love the desert vapes, cause I vape, instead of eating. My coleserol has gone down.

TT your Doc. Everyone is different, let us know.

I believe there is research documenting weight gain in mice exposed to high levels of propylene glycol (PG).

I can personally attest to a few stray pounds wandering onto me over the past few months.

I don't know whether to attribute it to vaping, or simply quitting smoking, which slows the metabolism surely. Hard to tell which is the culprit when both are going on at the same time and may contribute equally.

Why thank you for sharing such terrific news ! Don't I just feel like a little piggy now! (just being sarcastic - no meaness intended):p

It's like going to a weight watchers meetng and saying in front of a crowd of pleasantly plump people, "I just ate 20 lbs. of chocolate and didn't gain an ounce. Matter of fact, I lost 10 lbs.!"

I believe a lynching would be in order.:lol:

ok so then it probably isnt the vaping. thats cool. i will start to do some walking during the daytime. Steve ya lost 40 pounds since vaping. thats great. i weigh 210 but my normal weight used to be 175. When i was 50 i fractured my spine and my discs were gone so they kept filling me with sterroids and that put on some weight. Once i broke the 200 mark i started hitting 210 and then down then up again. But my wife said i really need to lose some weight. but anyway thanks for the input folks i was really getting worried that it was the vaping and all the sweet stuff i vape. i do not want to give up vaping at all. and my wife is very pleased that i went from 11/2 pks of smokes down to 2 to 3 daily but she was concerned too. Tomorrow nite we have a party to go to lets see how brave she is out on the dance floor. lol. Thanks to all

I think for some, those yummy flavors may make prowl for the real thing? Then, taste is sooo much better....I vape ALOT, nearly ALWAYS, but keep it going while being active. I havent gained nor really lost, but I have had a craving or two given from vaping a flavor that was sooooo good, I just HAD to have the real thing :)

I have posted this around the board a few times but will do it again. If you go to the wiki for P.G. you will see it states there is no sugar. It will not raise blood sugar. I can't vouch for V.G. since I only use the glycerine form of it and only add a few drops to my liquid to increase vapor production.

I am a diabetic who test blood sugar no less then 2 times a day and on most days more then that.

My readings are down since I started vaping. There are 2 reasons for that, one is that I vape rather then snack, the other is that vaping does not affect my blood sugar.

I have always read very high..now I am not only staying below a target night time reading of 150 but staying around 130. I vape mostly at night while playing on the computer. (I am on-line from 6pm until very late..or early as you can see by my post) I test at midnight.

The sweetness you taste is the same thing you taste in some foods aimed at diabetics. So if there was any danger to me, they wouldn't use P.G. in my foods. You get it in your ice cream and tooth paste as well as most makeup. (P.G. is in a lot of things, it is the ingrediant that keeps things creamy and flowing smoothly)

I am also not worried as P.G. is used in atomisers used by lung patients. While it is true it isn't vaporized first as in E-cigs..it does go into their lungs.

I would blame weight gain on Steve! This forum is addictive! I lost a lot of weight the first 6 months of vaping..but I am gaining some back...curse you Steve!:D O.K. back to my daily walks..don't post any thing interesting while I am outside !!

Quitting smoking is notorious for causing weight gain. Cigarettes suppress the appetite, and people who quit start eating more. I would have thought that was due to the nicotine, but I've heard a lot of people say they gained weight after switching to vaping, so I am guessing it is something else in the smoke, like maybe the carbon monoxide. But I am not a doctor, so it's only a guess, of course.

I read that one of the additives in most the tobacco is sugar. Sneaky those guys, huh?

I have also gained some weight since I started vaping. If you are 50 and gained a little weight this is understandable. I think as some people get older they tend to gain some weight. Our metabolism slows down. I think cigarette with all of its tar, ect. keeps you from gaining weight. Also food taste and smells so much better and I seem to be eating more.
