Wildly fluctuating resistance?

Hi everyone. It's been a while since my last post. I have an Aspire Cygnet, basically Aspires version of a "Pico" with a smok baby beast on it. It's worked just fine for over a year. I recently found out about other coils that will fit the B.B. so I started using Vaporesso cCell coils (.5 ohm) They are much better than SMOK's imo.

So my problem... This has happened once with cCell & once (today) with a SMOK .6 ohm. I take a few puffs, all is good. Then the next puff, the vapor is way hotter than normal, I look at the screen and it says 1.38 ohms! I take off the tank, put back on, and it's back to .65 ohm. How concerned should I be? Seems to me it's a prob with the mod or tank, since it's happened with 2 different brands of coil. Any suggestions?

Double check the threads on the bottom of he tank and inside the mod are clean. Also check that the 510 positive pin tin the mod is moving freely, it should be bouncy and not stuck down. If it is stuck down try lifting gently with some tweezers to see if you can free it. Something is not making proper contact and at least that's a first place to check.

Thank you Eskie. I'll check all that out.

Are you sure you are still in wattage mode?

If per chance you accidentally got into Temp Control mode, the resistance would probably read all screwed up and the vape would be screwed up, too. SMOK coils can't be used in TC because they are kanthal. Not sure what Vaporesso's coils are.

To expand on @Eskie ’s direction, it sounds like what you have is an iffy electrical connection somewhere. The mod measures the highest resistance in the circuit. A poor connection could mean that the highest point of resistance is no longer the coil.

For example:
IF his remedy doesn’t solve things AND you are using an RTA/RDA it’s possible you have a loose grub screw on your coil clamp.

I had this happen to me once. It was a certain tanks 510 pin was like a bit to long and was pushing in the mods 510 pin in to far, which kind of created a short. I took off that tank and used it on another mod and it never happened.

Thanks for the reply's everyone. Baditude, my mod doesn't have TC mode. Only wattage, voltage or bypass. Pretty basic box. I have tried the other modes in the past, but I stick with wattage.

Re: checking tank, threads, pins etc.
I've gone through everything. All looks ok. The pin in top of mod does have a bit of movement. I cleaned everything really good. I'll just have to see if it happens again. I tell ya though, vapin' away during break and all the sudden my next hit was HOT & sizzlin' with the ohms more than doubling just freaked me out a bit.
