Will an RDA help?

Being a mouth to lung hitter, you can't go too high in power. The higher you go the more air you have to move through the atty or yor vape will really heat up.

IMO the Kayfun type attys do better for flavor with mouth hits at say 12 - 15 watts than almost anything else I know of. I have a Reo bottom feeder and use two different 14 mm drippers on it and these small air chambers do really well at 12 - 15 watts too. I have an Aqua RBA which is a dual coil Kayfun type tank that has probably a bit better flavor than the single coil Kayfuns do, but they're close.

You could always try a cheap, small dripper from Fasttech and see how it goes. The one I linked to has a really small air hole. I think you'll likely want to drill it a bit bigger, but go in really small steps. Actually at that price buy three and work on one cap until you've gone slightly too big and you'll have two more to fall back on.

    Try these:
    A7 Stainless Steel Rebuildable Atomizer
A7 MINI Stainless Steel Rebuildable Atomizer Kit
I run them between 2.2 and 2.4 ohm

    trick:
Before you add juice, dry burn and then pinch the coil into a micro type coil. Make sure the coil is about 2mm above the air tube.

Argh, I wish I read this thread 3 days ago. I only use carts as I hate the clearos I had but then tried a 306 and loved it. It was like a cart on steroids. Smooth, cool vape with even better flavour and could handle any juice. I hunted out the manufacturer and bought 30 but I don't like these at all. The coils get way too hot too quickly for me and I have to vape at about 4.5 watts which doesn't bring the flavour.

I went to get an rda and looked at the a7 because of that airflow from underneath but the reviews for the a6 were better so went with that. I had a feeling I made a mistake. I also got the tobh clone. I thought maybe I could make a big ohm coil (4/5 ohm say?), take long draws and this would heat slow but bring good flavour at higher watts?

    It never ends, this vaping.

Anything rebuildable will give you more flavor and vapor over anything factory made.

A mouth inhaler will likely like a Kayfun-style rebuildable tank because of the tighter draw and cooler vape.

A lung inhaler will likely like a rebuildable dripper because of the more open draw and warmer vape. Adjusting the air holes for the air draw will affect the warmth, as well as how low in resistance you go when building your coils. Of course, any regulated mod (excluding a DNA) will be limited to 1.0 ohms or higher.

I have both a KFL+ and a Patriot dripper. I like and use both daily.

I used to be a mouth-lung inhaler. When I got into RDA's I quickly learned how to do a straight lung hit. I love my RDA's and the flavor the produce is much higher than a kayfun. Yes it is best for a lung hitter than a mouth-lung, but you can train yourself to do it. My advice is if you really want to try it go for it! I've found the best flavor RDA I own is my Magma clone. Absolutely AMAZING flavor. Just throwing that out there for a tip.

I had a look online at the A6 and I think it's similar to the one I linked to in my first post. I have not used the A7 but I have used the one I linked to, though it's been a while. If I remember correctly, around 1 - 1.2 ohms, 30 gauge Kanthal, micro coil with cotton on a mech mod so running between 11 and 15 watts. Placed the coil high for air flow. I think at 15 watts it was bit much and I pulsed the switch until the battery ran down a tenth of a volt or two. I drilled out the air hole a bit but only a bit. Didn't use it much, but it was a very tasty mouth to lung vape with surprising vapor production :)

I wouldn't worry too much about coil heat up time unless you're using 28 gauge for 2 ohm coils. The higher your resistance, the thinner your wire should be and the opposite too. I'm running 0.8 ohm coils in a Cyclone (dual coils, but that's irrelevant to heat up time in a mech mod) with 27 gauge wire and it heats up a bit slow, say 1/2 to 3/4 of a second, but I just hit the switch half a second before I start to inhale and it doesn't bother me at all.

I've never tried 4 - 5 ohm coils, but I suspect you're not going to gain anything from that route. I wouldn't make coils higher than 3 ohms and then only if I really understood why I was trying that. Suggest you stay in the 1.5 - 2.4 ohm range with regular regulated mods and a bit lower with mech mods if you want more power.

    It never ends, this vaping.

I does for some of us once we figure out what works. I use 2 mods and 3 toppers for 99% of my vaping these days. I have backup gear, but I haven't needed that in a long time :thumb:

6 months vaping and I'm only really understanding mouth v lung properly now :?: From searching the forum it seems to cause a big difference when it comes to RDAs. Can't really see myself moving from mouth out of habit/laziness/attachment to smoking analogs but maybe dripping will change that.

Things I've learnt from vaping about which I was completely ignorant before: ohms law, resistance of wire, positive/negative charges, regulated v unregulated batteries, protected v safe batteries, resettable fuses, soldering, chip sets and how they work, diacetyl and related compounds, clones, burning temperatures of various materials and more and more and more.

    Things I learned from smoking:.....
