Just bought these at radioshack. They're 10uf 16wvdc. I am unsure if they will work because everywhere I've read uses 10uf 10v and I believe these are 16v.(could be wrong) anyway any info is appreciated. Thanx.
Also wondering if tantalum or ceramic multilayer are better? If anyone can help please do because I am waiting to place an order until I know what's right.
The 10v and 16v will do the same thing(the 16v will just take up to 16v before it shorts)
the tantalums are usually a better cap...but I think the ceramics can take more heat and punishment I'll let someone who's
used them give you their opinion...
Either one of those you posted will work. 10 or 16 volt 10uf. As long as your source voltage is not above 10 or 16 volts your good. More then likey your going to be running this off Two 3.7 batts in series. So thats 7.4 volts. Personally i like to over kill so i would get the 16 volt caps
I just made an evercool with the caps from radio shack (one of the tantalums I had planned on using originally was shorted). I used one of each at first, the tantalum actually blew up in my face (no damage to me or circuitry, but scared the heck out of me). It has only been up and running for a couple of days but seems to be going strong.

Hmm that's not good. You said you used one of each? As in 1 ceramic and 1 tantalum? Or 2 tant and one wad bad? Mine are rated to 16v so I dot forsee them shorting unless they are actually faulty.

Yeah i had planned on using two tantalums(they don't carry the corect values at the shack, I had ordered them online), but one was shorted. I went to the shack and got two ceramics but someone had put one with a different value in the bin and I did not notice. I didn't think it would cause a problem using two different types but I was wrong.
After re-reading my original post I can see the confusion, but it made perfect sense to me when typing it.
