The grey Panasonic NCR18650 2900mAh and the green Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh are both protected li-ion batteries.*

:thumb: You can use either battery in your mechanical mod. However, they both have a 10 amp *continuous discharge rate limit. Do not use these for sub-ohm vaping < 0.8 ohm coils. Otherwise either battery will be fine for any other application. I wouldn't use these with a Kick drop-in regulator, as the Kick requires an IMR (high drain/safe chemistry) battery.

Mechanical Mod Proper Usage Guide

* Edit Update for Correction: The Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh has a 6.8 Amp continuous discharge rate, not 10 Amps. It's still debatable whether the battery is protected or un-protected, as FastTech doesn't say, as Panasonic makes this in both versions.

oh, batitude is a real person..LOL

I thought they were trolling me..xD

To battitude: thanks for your advice and I won't be messing with any rba's on mechs right now since im a noobie. I'm going to be using a kanger protank that has 2.4-2.5 ohm. This should be safe right?

The 2.5 ohm heads might be a little high in resistance for a fixed voltage mechanical mod. The vapor might be on the weak side. Test them out and see how you like them. I would get some low resistance or standard resistance replacement heads around 1.6 - 2.0 ohm for the more ideal vape for a mechanical mod.

No!!! those do not have 10A continuous rating!

And at least the green one does not appear to be protected.

The dr has corrected me. The green Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh only has a 6.8 amp continuous discharge rate. My appologies. It is available in both protected and unprotected versions.

According to "customer comments" on the FastTech site someone said the battery linked by the OP is NOT protected.

OK lets examine this. You buy a mod from a company that has no shame about selling clones copys and fakes. Then you would trust this company to sell you genuine batteries? As much as it irks me when people buy branded clones I still do not wish any harm to come to you please buy your batteries from a reputable dealer like Welcome to RTD Vapor

the company differentiates between clones/copies and genuine items. it has never been found to sell a clone or copy advertised as genuine.

it is quite possible rtd vapor gets its panasonics from said company.

The issue I have always had with FastTech and other like vendors is you have to dig and do research on what type of battery it is, because they sell both un-protected ncr batteries as well as protected ncr and IMR batteries. FastTech often does not differentiate what the battery is.

The problem is if you shop at FastTech, you better damn well know your battery chemisties. All responsibility falls on the customer.

Novices who do not know their battery chemistries can easily purchase the wrong battery for their APV from Fastech, EBay, or Amazon.

A company like RTD Vapor sells only batteries that can be used safely in mods and never sell unprotected icr batteries which battery experts say should never be used in a mod.

nuff said.

close thread before this becomes a debate over morals, beliefs, and whether steak is better cooked rare or well done.
We have debates on ECF all the time. We hadn't gotten anywhere near being ornery yet. No harm no foul. :p

Even if the green Panny IS UN-protected, you can still use it if you don't push it. Common juice attachments such as cartos and clearos won't push this battery beyond its limits. Just don't use an RBA or Kick with it and you'll be safe.

I hope you got the information that you were inquiring about.
