Will this get me started with an eGo-T for cheap?

Hi,

I just started the e-cig thing a few days ago. I bought an NJoy Npro from my local smoker friendly. I figured if I was serious about quitting, I should get something that I can get refills for locally. Anyways, I want to get something that is a little bit nicer too. I don't have a lot of money, so I was thinking about putting together my own eGo-T kit instead of just buying one.

Here is my shopping list (less than $60 shipped):
1 x Joye eGo-T tanks (5 pack) - Type B (prefilled)
2 x Joye eGo-T Low Resistance Atomizer - Type B
1 x Joye eGo Passthru (eGo-T 1000 mAh option)

A few questions:
- Is that what I need to get started, or am I missing something (other than e-liquid)?
- Will this be a good upgrade from the NPro?
- If I end up not liking the tank system (some reviewers don't), what else can I use with that battery?
- Can my NPro batteries be used with anything else?
- Do you have any suggestions in the $60 price range that I should consider instead of the eGo-T?
- Will the "Silicone caps for Type A Tank" work on the Type B tanks? If not, where can I get some for the Type B tanks?

Thanks

Take a look at Liberty-Flights. They have eGo and Riva kits that won't break the bank. Just click on the Discount Code tab at the top and it'll give you a 20% off code.

Regardless of which one you buy, I would suggest at least 5 atomizers. If you go the Tank route, buy more tanks. I would also buy at least 60mls of juice. Those little prefilleds aren't going to last and most of the time they taste horrible! Buy a few small size bottles so you can try different flavors and nic levels to find out what's going to work for you.

The passthrough is a great option and I love mine (they aren't eGo, but damn they sure have saved my ... a couple times while batteries are recharging!) The nice thing about the eGo is that it's "plug 'n go" You can use while it's charging and then use it as another stand alone battery.

All of these are excellent upgrades and far superior to the NJoy. You'll love it!

Gestalt, I think your plan sounds quite reasonable! I began vaping 5+ weeks ago, with a Joye 510 starter-kit, which included 2 complete e-cigs. (Best part: had my last analog 48 hours later, and haven't smoked since!)

I wanted to turn my heavy-smoking adult-daughter onto vaping, so I quickly ordered another same starter-kit, and sure enough, she liked it, and carried 3 of the 4 e-cigs home with her. I had been studying the forum here, and promptly ordered an ego-t kit for myself, since I did *not* want to return to smoking ... and having only one e-cig made me nervous...

I actually grew fond of my baby-Joye-510s in that short time -- even got some drip-tips so that I could switch flavors easily! However, once my daughter absconded with the bulk of them, I had to make a replacement, quick!; didn't want to relapse to smoking!

After hours and hours of obsessively reading reviews here, I chose to "upgrade" to the ego-t-type-b's. They are fantastic! I had a problem with one of the atties, though; reached out to the supplier via email, and got great advice on how to tweak it. I've since acquired two more ego-t-type-b's.

As a Floridian -- for whom hurricane-season has just begun -- I wouldn't want to be stuck with one battery. Unless I could recharge it in my car, I would definitely want to know that I have at least a couple of charged batts to get me to my next destination. You're in CO, so I'm sure hurricane-related power-outages are not a concern...

In my brief experience, atomizers can be tweaked, jiggled, and even resurrected, in many instances. But a dead battery is a dead battery, and unless you are certain that you can rely upon your Electric Company, I'd advise you to have an extra battery, as well.

Best! And have fun! :)

Thanks for the good advice. I wish I had money for 5 atomizers and extra batteries. For now, I'm going to have to make do using my NPro as my fall back device and just get the bare minimum for the eGo-T kit. I just graduated college and am still looking for a job (So I have to be really careful with my money). Once I have a bit more cash flow I'm definitely going to get better redundancy so I don't get into a position where I might relapse into smoking.

Tamster, how's the draw on your eGo-T Type B? The one thing that's been concerning me about getting this model is that some people say its a bit stiff. Ideally, I would like the draw to be easier or equivalent to my NPro.

-Thanks

I would go with the Prokit over at the VaporCastStore.com. Tanks are going to give you alot of nasty burnt dry hits. Dripping is the way to go and the Prokit comes with LR atty and drip tip. and much much much more. Its 70 bucks.

This was my experience as well- only one atty out of three worked, and only occasionally at that- the rest of the time, burnt yuck. Plus the tanks themselves drove me batty- the ends would pop off way too easily when they were on the atomizer, and that would necessitate a PITA retrieval operation. I've way preferred just putting 510 cartos on the eGo T battery, and am eagerly awaiting my clearomizers. You might get lucky and have the eGo T work for you- it seems like when it does work for people it's great, but LOTS of people have had problems, unfortunately. It *sounds* like an awesome set up, I wish it had worked at all for me.

For sure, I would've gotten a different kit if I'd realized just how frustrated I'd be with the eGo T; I'm just glad I could salvage some of the kit with cartos.

Ok... I thought I was stuck on the idea of the tank system, but now I've done a search on those clearomizers. A cartomizer/clearomizer is a cartridge and an atomizer in 1 isn't it? So, if I buy a pack of those all I would need is the pass through battery and some e-liquid and I should be set, right? If I go that route I could save $15 and have 5 XL clearomizers, which hold 1.8ml (about the same as the type B tank), instead of only having 2 atomizers and 5 tanks...

What's the downside?

I need to do a bit of research to see what the reviews look like, but that sounds like a really good option...

-Thanks

Just wondering, when you ordered your eGo T kit, was it labelled eGo-T on your atomizers? Because now that i think of it, i ordered a second kit because they were selling them for so cheep from a supplier i wont name and they sent me a kit and i noticed the packages were nicely cut open on one side and the atomizers were not labelled eGo-T and both quit working and gave me a really gross burn taste literally a day or two later and i wasn't using ether full time. Also noticed, that same supplier is selling the genuine eGo-T Atomizers for cheapest i've ever seen and i have a feeling they are taking there starter kits and replacing joytech atomizers with with cheep ones and reselling.

When i messaged the supplier he told me "The first kits we got in were joyetech but only had the logo on the batteries. We have received andditional orders and they are now on both battery and atomizer"

Tamster, how's the draw on your eGo-T Type B?

Congrats, New Grad! :) My experience with egoT-b's draw is that it's f-i-n-e. I'm strictly low-nic level, and have a serious menthol preference. (I have not tried pre-loaded tanks; 'have been having fun looking for my holy-grail menthol, buying sample sizes, here & there.) The egoT-b provides a very smooth (or, as I pronounce it: smewth ;)) vape. It does tend to dilute some flavors, and throat-hits are slightly more subtle. But as I said, I like strong menthols, so this is actually a feature I'm happy with, as some of the menthols I've acquired make me feel like coughing up a hairball when I put them in my baby 510.

If you're not trying to quit smoking, don't even worry about having a gazillion backups. Two atties, two batts, at the most! Atomizers are super-simple pieces of equipment; you should be able to maintain and tweak them, as needed. Just remember this is supposed to be fun! :D

Hi, Gestalt!

First, I have to tell you I'm NOT an expert. -I've never even tried vaping yet, BUT: I've done a lot of research about it, and I've just ordered my first PV myself. -A Tornado Tank, which is the same as eGo-T, just another seller..
I've heard lots of wonderful things about this system. Heard a lot of bad things too though, mostly leaking tanks (which seems to mostly be resolvable by ordering silicone caps) and loss of flavor or TH. But I have my fingers crossed and still believe in it..

The wonderful thing about the eGo-T is, that if you're not satisfied with it, the battery will fit to any 510 system, including the Titan (Don't know Joye's name for it) and Tornado (Standard eGo), and the standard eGo has gotten plenty good reviews too... It will also fit to other systems if you have an adaptor (Can often be ordered where you order your eGo)
The standard batt has also gotten really awesome reviews for really long batterytimes, so i'd THINK you could settle for one standard one, if you want to save some on that..

I should get atleast one regular atty though, and that's because of two reasons: A LR atty will break earlier than a regular atty, and you might me enough or even more satisfied with a standard one..

I too ordered the Tank system, but went fot the compact starterkit (same as standard, just 1 batt and 1 atty instead of 2) and bought one extra LR atty and some empty carts on the side and saved alot.

BTW Totally Wicked UK (Link) has an offer right now on a standard tornado (eGo) at £37,49... (I don't work for 'em or anything, it's just who I ordered mine from)

Otherwise I think you're good to go with the stuff you initially mentioned..

GOOD LUCK!

how long have you had your ego t type b?

Two weeks today, Poxy! And I'm happy as a clam with them! I did have trouble with one atty. It gurgled and leaked, and was an overall under-performer. I contacted the supplier [a true angel!] and and she walked me through/held my hand in how to tweak the wick. Problem solved! I bought two more last week ('cause I know my daughter will talk me out of a couple, lol), and all four are vaping like some fog-machine at a rock-concert!

It'll be quite some time, I'm sure, before I try out a different set-up. This egoT-b is "just right," for me! Not too big, not too small; I can mess around with it, if I'm bored; or just fill it up and vape without thinking for a good day-and-a-half (each).

Sounds like you're pretty happy with yours, too, eh?

This forum is a lot more help than most of the forums I've visited in the past. Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I ended up going a different route than I thought I would. I spent more on e-liquid than I was really planning since BlueMist had 180ml of Clove for $20. I wanted to try some other flavors too, so I got a sample kit in addition to that. I decided to go the really cheap route on the vaporizer. I got a good battery (the eGo-T 1000 mAh passthrough), and then just bought some cartomizers. I figure when cash flow improves, I can upgrade to tanks, clearomizers, drip tips, or whatever ends up being the latest and greatest at that point.

Apocalypse*Meow, I would really like to hear how those clearomizers work for you as they seem like a really good idea.

One more question. When I'm using a passthrough, am I running at 3.7V all the time, or does it jump up to 5V when its charging?

i bought the riva from liberty flights a pack of boge lr cartos and some juice and it is great. The liberty flight riva lite pack comes with 2 batteries so you don't really need the pass through. for the juices look at the reviews. you can get the riva lite pack and a pack of 5 2 ohm cartos for about $41. then all you need is some juice. Alot of people are fans of the riva. and the price on it is awesome. also if you are like alot of us vapors you'll end up wanting a nicer mod at some point. I found that this is an awesome way to start and was a great price. the 19 you save can get you a few bottles of juice to start. again just my opinion but i think for the price and my riva battery life is pretty damn good. it's a lil larger than some of the batteries out there but it's definently awesome. If you have more questions about anything feel free to pm me. This site will help you tons and everyone on here is awesome and lots of knoweledge. Good luck with everything

Yes, a cartomizer or clearomizer is an atty and tank in one, and pretty cheap when you compare it to an atty. Remember though the cartomizers and especially the clearomizers are considered more disposable than regular attys. Clearomizers taste great and give a cooler vape, but are very delicate. Cartomizers require cleaning on a regular basis and can last quite some time with proper care and feeding. :D I prefer the taste from a carto and clearo to a tanko (I always get that plastic taste thru the tanko's that just turns me off).
