This is my own take on a steampunk mod. Currently it's on hold since I have other projects that I'm trying to finish. I'm gonna give it to my brother after I'm done with it cause he's been pestering me about it for days. It's gonna be full mechanical and I'm gonna incorporate the improvements I've made with my other mods on this unit.

That is pretty cool!!! Keep us posted on the progress.

Thank you, I just need to finish 3 other projects before going back to this. I've been making lots of progress with each mod that I make and sometimes I have to redo some of the parts. I'm building 2 18650 sterling silver mechanical mods and a sterling silver atomizer at the moment during the night since I have a day job as a goldsmith since that is my profession.

Both look just great, that brass plate is just begging for a nice Victorian font engraving. Are you using a torch or an iron to braze? Excellent work :)

I use a gasoline torch that has a foot pump for bigger pieces and I use a hydroflux welder for smaller pieces. I use different types of solders like silver/brass based solder when I start on the body. A victorian engraving would be nice. And thank you sir, I've also seen your brass works and they are simply wonderful.

Why thank you. A hydroflux welder, oh my, your shop must be filled with marvelous toys. Can't wait to see more of these.

The hydroflux welder is the only modern tool we have in our workshop, we still mostly use tools that needs good old muscles to operate :) I made the body by laminating some copper plates to get the proper thickness, length and width. I used a jewellers saw to cut the pieces and then pounded it with a mandrel to shape the tube. I do wish I had more access to more machines but doing it the old school way is probably my most preferred method. I'll try to post pictures on how I make these mods when I post my wip 18650 sterling silver mod.

Oh see, you got me again with Mandrel, another fine example. For the copper I thought you were using tubing, but to get the brass plate bent right I was wondering.

Yep both brass and copper were formed using a mandrel and I had to use a rubber mallet in order to not give the surface any deep dents. I'd love to have copper tubes and I found a place where I can buy them, cause having the tubes would make my work a lot faster and easier. I usually try to find some materials in nearby junk shops and some scraps that we have in the workshop.

I have recently discovered the steampunk mods and I am fascinated with them. I think a steampunk mod would be perfect for work, most people would just think it was a decoration setting on my desk.

I have to many projects going right now and don't know the first thing about building one of these (but I have seen moonshiners a few times so I'm learning a little ;) ) so for now ill just keep marveling at these and collect ideas.

Great work! Can't wait to see how you build this type of stuff.

You can speed up the patina process by sticking the piece or mod in a sealed box with a dish of ammonia for a few days. If you just let it age naturally crevices that don't get rubbed normally age even more. Pocket lint and dust can give areas a deeper aging. :)

That's a nice aging technique. I will use that when I get the time to go back to my copper mods. I also love the aged look in copper.

I've resumed work on this mod and I'm making some changes to the firing mechanism. Hopefully this will take me only 3 days to finish since I'm just gonna do the top and bottom caps after the firing mechanism. I'm still deciding what to add aesthetically since I want to make this more steampunkish-er lol. After finishing this I will also finish the steampunk atomizer I've started yesterday to go along with this mod.
