Wire alternatives

I'm in a pinch right now, and was wondering, are there any safe alternatives to kanthal or nichrome wire for my coils?

I hear copper works amazing, with an aspestos wick! But seriously, dont use a copper coil or an aspestos wick.

I'm guessing you ran out? In a real pinch, you might be able to clean and dry burn an older coil and get a little more time out of it. It's not great, but it works.
