Just used ecowool all good, but is there a trick used by anyone to stop it unraveling when putting wire in???

I usually make the coil first, then thread the ecowool, torch it, then thread the wire through the middle.

The torch makes the ecowool stiffer, and kaving the coil all ready around it stops it from unraveling when the coil slides in.

Just wanted to report another sucess! A big thanks to the OP and all of the contributors. Best vape ever!! Couldn't find unglavanized locally. Got a stretch of cable in 3/32 7x19 (12") and ribbon Kanthal (10') from Avid Vapers for around 10 bucks shipped. Coiled it up with 400 mesh diaper on my RSST and wasn't happy with the results. Since I still have a ton of 32 ga, threw that on with 4 wraps and pulsed it in my itaste. Came in at 2.0 ohm and vapes so so good at 9 watts. The deck and top cap do get just a hair warmer, but not enough to cause concern. Gonna go back and give a like for this one! The only one drawback is the juice economy. This setup vapes juice like a V-8 engine sucks fuel.

I got it working, went with the 3/32 7x19 rope first this weekend I'll try the 1/16 7x7 rope. I did a 400 ss mesh diaper and a 5/6 wrap of twisted 32ga kanthal for 2.4 ohms tomorrow I'll try a 3/4 wrap 32ga kanthal. So far it vapes good, flavor is a little muted probably my coils not quite right I'll give it a tank or two and see if it improves. Thanks to everyone that's contributed to this thread and especially to the OP, this looks like its going to work out great. Please don't mind the mess. lol

How do you guys rate the flavor for wire rope over mesh?

You would still use the mesh (or ekowool, or xc-116, etc) on the top of the wire rope. It just allows the "topper" to wick faster and better. Flavor should remain the same (or better since you won't have nasty dry hits anymore).

Just got done reading this whole thread, took me 4 days to finish lol. Last weekend tried the SS cable for the first time after trying several different methods on my Aga-t2, and gotta say it has been the best genny experience I have had, actually the only good experience I've had. I've tried SS mesh oxidized and non oxidized and regular silica. I had to put it down though since I wasn't sure if the CC cable I got from OSH was galvanized or not. After reading the whole thread I think that it might be galvanized because the finish was different from the 7x19 that i got from OSH and also the stuff that I got from big69er, TY btw. I will be redoing the SS cable setup that I have in my aga-t2 with the cable that I got from big69er which i also checked with a magnet but sticks, but as others have mentioned on this thread, some non galvanized SS cables are magnetic. I will also torch this SS cable too. Hopefully it rocks as good as the set up I have it it right now, 3/4 wrap of 28g kanthal. I might try ribbon on this one as well.

i tried to sleeve using the EKOWOOL and the frayed ends frustrated the hell outta me. i saw that i can torch it ekowood to get rid of them?

i wrapped, instead, with 400 mesh. wicks great...but takes a bit to get the vape to produce. i think i wrapped a bit too much.

torching will make the ekowool much sturdier, and easier to use as a sleeve., but it won't make the existing frayed ends go away.
